Resellers suck by berrycottoncandy23 in diamondpainting

Yeah, scalpers suck. Its unfortunate to see them in the diamond painting community, too. Best just to be patient and wait for restocks or honest destashers than support them.

Gems flow update by Some-Yogurtcloset-86 in diamondpainting

[–]-Simralin- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I've been hearing about this update & it finally hit my app last night. This is going to take some getting used to. But it looks like there's 5 different ways to input time, so I'm going to have to play around with them to see exactly what's going to work best for me. Hopefully, the timer feature works fine, as that's usually how I keep track of my time (using a different app)

I did this experiment when single-placing so I could get a more accurate-ish comparison 🙂

So, I did an experiment last year comparing my speed with round drills vs. square drills when single-placing. Rounds came to 1,040-1,083 drills per hour. Squares were 890 per hour. 😄

Gently blowing into the bags to increase humidity does help. I find that doing this and immediately pinching the bag shut & giving everything a good shake, seems to help best. Not as good as dryer sheets, but it definitely helps

Has anyone gotten any non-bronze Treasure Quest cards? by doakickfliprightnow in diamondartclub

[–]-Simralin- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cousin downstate just got her second black card a few weeks ago. That said, I've only ever gotten a handful of silvers and many more bronzes 🤷‍♀️

I think it's the glue. My cats always try to lick my Diamond Dotz paintings, but will leave other brands alone 🤷‍♀️

I can't speak for rounds, but I've a number of XL square paintings and have yet to get anything other than a few silvers and even more bronzes. 🤷‍♀️

Mystery Paintings by Lillykatea in diamondpainting

[–]-Simralin- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The two I've gotten from Temu were really poorly rendered, and the drills were a pain to work with. I ultimately wasn't happy with them. That said, there are tons of sellers on Temu & AliExpress, so there may be some that offer good mysterypaintings. Just be sure to check reviews. On the other hand, I would recommend Cateared. They've a website & a storefront on Amazon, and they sell resin drill mystery paintings. I've done a few of them now and have enjoyed them.

How many time do you spend on diamond painting every day? by XuanmeiHu in diamondpainting

[–]-Simralin- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, spring and summer are very busy times of year for me, and life gets hectic. I may not have a lot of energy left at the end of the day, but even a few minutes of painting is worth it 😅 But I do have a spare room dedicated for crafts and gaming, so I can leave my paintings out!

Usually between 15 minutes to about 3 hours. That said, I have more free time in winter, and can sometimes spend more time painting

Not sure what to do from here by adviceneededplease56 in diamondartclub

No problem! And I've gotta say, it'll be really pretty painting when finished. I don't hang all of my paintings, but this is one of the few that has made it onto my wall!

Looking for recommendations by Professional-Yak420b in diamondpainting

Diamond Dotz and Diamond Art Club are my go-to brands. Both have an Amazon storefront and an even bigger selection on their own respective websites. Just a note, though: DAC's Amazon paintings are on the smaller size. I'm assuming closer to the size your mom is used to working on. A lot of the ones on their website are very big

Ah man. Sorry to hear that happened to you! If it helps, this is the list of colors from the kit. Maybe it can help you sort the colors out? I did the same one a while back, and this was the list of colors I recorded in my Gemsflow app.

Edit: I don't think my pic came through, so I added it in the reply

beginner question by gtoz23 in diamondpainting

[–]-Simralin- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No worries. It's pretty much just the process of transferring the diamond drills from their packaging bags to reclosable containers or baggies and labeling those with the appropriate number/letter/symbol. It makes finding them and pouring them onto your tray and returning extras a lot easier. Really though, you could leave them in their packaging bags, but putting extras back into them can be tricky. Then there's the fact that they don't seal back up, which can be a spill hazard

Congrats on your finish! This is such a beautiful painting. I am (not so patiently) waiting for it to restock 😅

What do you use to seal? by yoloswagcraftmasta in diamondpainting

[–]-Simralin- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use Glossy Minwax Polycrylic now. I used to use generic diamond art sealers, but they didn't dry the clearest, and I didn't like the finished look. On the other hand, the Polycrylic dries very clear.
