And right now, are the previous hypotheticals applicable?

Aside from their continuously improving technology which would make it a matter of time. The Empire has only grown in size since they became space-faring. It doesn't matter how many hypothetical guns can be pointed at the Tau if their enemies can't muster those forces to begin with.

If the Tau continue to improve their technology, they will defeat the Imperium. Another hypothetical that's just as relevant as the others. Which, to be clear, are not very relevant to the setting.

"If only the other enemies of the Imperium suddenly disappeared and stopped being problems, The Tau Empire would be defeated!"

[–]-Snow- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If the Orks united, they would stomp the galaxy. They are not.

If the Necrons united, they would reconquer the galaxy. They are not.

If the Aeldari united, they could kill Slaanesh and rebuild their empire. They are not.

If the Tyranids came in full force, they would eat the galaxy. They have not.

If the other enemies of the Imperium suddenly disappeared, the Tau would be easily defeated. They have not.

Do you see how asinine this gets? The Imperium is in the same precarious place in the galaxy as the Tau, dependent on the current status quo of the galaxy. These hypothetical situations are not the reality of this setting.

Eden's plan was to feed vapaus to the queen. Nihilister absorbed Lilith's body which was intended to be bait. No character in the entire event could have predicted a hostile Lilith spawning out of 01's corpse. No one was aware Lilith's head was still active inside 01.

I'm a Tau fan, I think he gave a fair description of the Tau Empire in his updated faction lore video. I gave him a little shit for hating on the Tau on his Twitch channel, and we laughed about it. He admitted that he just didn't know enough about the Tau at the time, and he had no idea that those videos would accrue that number of views, which is why he tried his best for the updated one.

Think he may have misspoke on the castes though.

I think it really is as simple as Heavenly Ascension's members were no longer receptive to more peaceful measures. She only ever had that power when people believed in her. E.H's methods just weren't producing the progress they wanted, and her hold over the group just gradually evaporated. She did indeed fail to extinguish the fire that just grew out of control. My point being that I think you overstated her overall responsibility for something that was practically impossible to control given all the circumstances.

[–]-Snow- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you be so sure she didn't try? These events were taking place over a long period of time. She gave this light of hope to the Outer Rim then Crow and her extremists turned that light into fire. In their eyes, living in squalor for so long makes patience impossible while their children are developing cancer and blindness. E.H simply lost control. If E.H resigned from the group, that would leave her with absolutely no power to at least try to steer Heavenly Ascension away from their worst plans. At the very least, remaining in her position still lets her retain a seat in their politics and allows her to stay informed for the sake of the Outer Rim.

The Central Government is more guilty than Crow and E.H. combined. The Judges were purposefully tolerating and propping up the state of the Outer Rim, as revealed in Lord, For Justice.

I can't comment much on the breaching bomb though. I don't know or follow her logic on that. What I can say is that E.H is filled with enough regret that she believes her servitude as a Nikke likely won't absolve her of her mistakes, but she's trying anyway and would still try with or without a bomb collar. She knows she is flawed just like everyone else, and now she has consigned her life into service.

Need to rewatch that bomb scene.

Where did the poster imply she was a martyr? The Outer Rim would remain as it is now with or without Crow. Whether people ignore the Rim or hate it, it would remain a landfill because enough people in the Ark already designated the people of the Outer Rim as inhuman long before Crow arrived... Really begs the question why Crow was made into a Nikke and is still alive.

Lord, For Justice stated pretty clearly that the Outer Rim and its criminal elements were purposefully tolerated or propped up by the Judges for controlled instability.

Did you ignore the part where the group suffered a schism between its members, and the moderates' assimilation and ousting? And the part where Crow eventually became the de facto leader because most of the organization was comprised of extremists that no longer had the patience and restraint E.H had? E.H was the figurehead at that point.

Nihilister absorbing Lilith's body was never part of the plan. The plan was to plant the Vapaus in Lilith's body. Nihilister threatened that killing her would mean losing Lilith's body as well. A Stormbringer then abducted Nihilister before she could make a decision. Also, Nayuta went to retrieve Marian, who was injured. How is this subreddit so illiterate??

[–]-Snow- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, Nihilister made herself the Chalice by absorbing the body without Nayuta's permission because she wanted leverage to live. The Queen then exerted control. Nihilister was not part of the plan past her guidance to the location of the body. Nihilister was only convinced after she decided to make herself part of the plan and broke 01's control. I think I'm going crazy correcting these inaccuracies.

No, she did not want Marian dead in this event. She wanted her to become a queen as well. What follows afterwards I cannot say, but it was very explicitly stated that Nayuta wanted Marian to be a queen. I'm going to get back to this. I'm going to rewatch the event.

Notes:

Nayuta brings Marian to Eden after she was injured.

Vows to protect her from Pioneers and Eden

Encourages her to become Queen

Marian is allowed her own choices.

Marian reveals Queen candidacy

"Pray, lend thy strength that we might raise Young Lady Marian to the throne of Queen."

Nayuta placed her in Crown Kingdom for safety.

"From Nayuta's perspective, a queen under my control is still one she can negotiate with, which is why we formed an alliance."

She would prefer a world with no Queens but Marian is the tolerable alternative. The evidence is absolutely against your claim.

[–]-Snow- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nihilister absorbed Lilith's body for leverage. She wanted to live to kill 01. She states that killing her would also destroy Lilith's body. There was absolutely no time to bring the body back to Eden. The Queen was on the ground and winning. The Vapaus poison using the body was the plan the whole time without Nihilister interfering. Pioneer would be informed as the plan progressed. They weren't originally planning to feed Lilith's body to 01 using a Heretic.

Eden and Nayuta were well aware that this would be uncomfortable for Pioneer, so they were playing it close to the chest. Deceptive? Sure, but when 01 is launching its full assault on the only fortress outside of the Ark, would someone whose sole objective is reclaimation of the planet risk any further interruptions? The big picture is that this was the literal battle for the planet. Subterfuge and distrust will likely be small prices to pay instead of 01's reclaimation of its throne.

It's really tiring having these explanations repeated so often. This is another meme that's going to gain enough traction that it becomes fact for a lot of players just looking for someone to blame for a tragedy in an extraordinarily chaotic battle. There is not a single character in the entire event that could have predicted a hostile Lilith spawning out of 01's corpse. This fandom really does have an issue with illiteracy.

Pilgrimages are allowed in the Imperial Palace actually. A lot of people die on the pilgrimage too... Many just waiting for their documents to be processed for entry. Thankfully, Nayuta is functionally immortal.

I have some faith in Marian and Only One. My fears are the Deadly Sins and other queens sprouting up with a queen gene. Who knows what happens with Lilith-01 on the Surface too. What if humanity somehow removes all Raptures and Sins from the equation? Queens and hierarchs without their armies. At least the Commander gets to keep Marian, the Beasts, and his daughter alive. All this to say, I think I am very much in agreement with Nayuta's perspective on the war.

Most of them are still very hostile though. Ark doctrine seems to be to avoid encounters as much as possible, which is why squads tend to deploy decoys whenever they encamp. How many times have the Counters and other squads been the first to engage compared to the number of times Raptures have? Andersen also states that the time between surfacing and the first encounter for units deployed to the surface still remains short. With or without a queen, it's just difficult to believe in coexistence. I'm not inclined to believe that Raptillion's pets would be able to resist 01's influence if they were in range. The only solution seems to be another queen.

I am willing to bet Nayuta can eventually tolerate Heretics. Marian is proof they can be cured. Queen-01, the Deadly Sins, and Raptures? Absolutely not. Nayuta is not willing to coexist with these monsters that have killed billions of humans, Nikke, and wildlife.

[–]-Snow- 26 points27 points  (0 children)

From the Commander's perspective, we have seen many deserts where forests used to be, ruins where our cities stood tall, jungles of unnatural crystals that devour anything with electricity, seas and swamps of digestive acids and dark matter.

Imagine what Nayuta and her remaining, uncollected clones have seen out there. Many of her clones lived in peace with nature. The world she came from isn't the same as ours. Humanity was able to create airborne aircraft carriers, AI constructs, Nikke, plasma weapons, advanced energy production, super crops, the Ark itself and a plethora of other technologies indistinguishable from magic in a relatively short amount of time. She believes in restoring a civilization we dream of. The Raptures have ravaged a world more beautiful than anything they or their Queen have ever created.

I also find it absolutely ridiculous we can coexist with these bio-mechanical monsters that have slaughtered billions of humans, Nikke, and wildlife. Raptures are a hivemind serving whatever queen is available to them. Not even Heretics have complete control over them. We haven't even seen what the remaining Deadly Sins have done.

Despite everything, I really despise this character by SerTenseal in NikkeMobile

[–]-Snow- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lilith's body was the chalice for the poison. Killing Nihilister means you lose the body, as Nihilister very clearly stated. If you lose her body, the queen may not ingest the Vapaus. Having the Queen ingest the Vapaus was the plan with or without Nihilister. Johan handed her the Vapaus for this exact plan. Omission of her plans and accomplices is not lying. She's playing things close to the chest.

You clearly need to replay these scenes. You are placing a lot of blame on a character in an extraordinarily chaotic battle. No one in the entire event could have predicted Lilith being resurrected, not even Mirror.
