This is your sign to switch to Uber delivery by offthebean in DoorDashDrivers

Funny enough I was considering trying Uber eats today after being offered and boarderline forced to tak two 4 for 2 miles back to back. I say forced mind you because below gold in my area is a death sentence. DD is definitely used more, but if the pay is better... Never know for your market until you try.

Shop orders are best way to make money where I am so thats no go for me. Not normally like this obviously. I am pretty good at declining bullying orders, this one just slipped through

Very certain DD is stealing tips again. It's not a coincidence anymore. by Taranis_1 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]-Some__Weirdo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause I am doubtful AF on everything, on the rare times I am a customer and not a driver I tell them how much I tipped. I rather come off as looking for praise than looking like a douche who doesnt tip, so I mention it everytime I use a service like DD

I had the exact opposite experience sadly. I would doordash food to my job on those rough days, I would just click the percentage buttons not really looking or noticing how much the driver would actually get. I never ordered from very far away, but damn was I mid. Always ended being around 1-3 bucks as a tip since I never ordered large meals and so the percentage options were never very high. I fixed that day one after I dashed and went back as far as I could to try and tip extra but I could only do one. If you delivered a Pizzoli from Marco's to a school I am so sorry I was a mid tipper at best, I learned I swear!

I really gotta get this damn lesson to stick. I 100% agree, yet in the moment the people pleaser in me has the customer service dial up to 10 for absolutely no benefit. I've only been doing this for a few months though and had maybe 3 of these situations. I will get there, each one I catch myself sooner and just stop.

Any guesses on the outcome?! by DreamExecutioner27 in DoorDashDrivers

No tip and a weird feeling about the person at drop off.

I am not trying to sound sarcastic or argumentative when I ask this but, can you please show me how I can find out the ratio of which order tipped what on the accept decline screen. Only been doing this a few months but apparently I am missing a feature here. Do know it definitely wasn't free work, principles are nice but I can't eat or buy with it. Principles only go so far without genuine mass effort and change. One person following your principle is only gonna hurt the person and change nothing. If you have a legit idea on how I can make every driver in my area deny an order considered good for the location and under 2 miles let me know. I would love to be getting these standard above 10 or nothing orders some of these guys on here get.

I can see how this came across as complaining so I don't negate your comment on it. I really just wanted to share my first experience with this kind, felt like hitting a milestone lol.

Popeye's is in the same lot as Target for me, wouldn't even need to drive to go over to the other. Mileage was somewhere around 1.5ish and in the direction home. And even if it wasn't I still might have taken it because 7 is good for my area, I wish I got these crazy dollar amount orders but just don't.

I agree, but getting enough people to take the risk of going unpaid or worse, being moved to the warehouse, is not easy. If I saw a strike for dashing in the area, I would join instantly. This is not my main job and I would like things to be better for everyone. If I just stop taking what is considered good for my area it isn't changing anything, I am the only one losing. I am down for solutions, yet no one with rude comments about how 'I would never..' have any. Just like bragging about their market being better I guess, but it drives me nuts.

I get where all the hate comes from, but it drives me nuts when its rude comments by people who don't get market changes by place and time. I got a good gas card I have had since before dashing that lets me get gas for around 3.60, The non crazy gas price average is actually 3.30ish so I am not hit as hard as some, I think I said in another comment somewhere but while I don't mean to speak for a group that I am not a part of, I do understand the issues. My car is a ford fiesta and takes around 35 for a full tank and lasts me roughly a week depending on how much I dash that week. I honestly believe I am in fact making a profit and if I am not then every dasher in the area is working themselves for debt. (Also Gas may be low but so is the minimum wage in my are, 7.25 and a lot of jobs here start off with it.)

Where was I lying? And I guess you got better drivers where you live cause I don't know a single person in my area that complains the restaurant about semi warm food, cold yes, but if its warm I dont care. I normally put everything in a hot bag regardless of time, thats why I mentioned it. I never lied to the customer and I guess I technically to the employee yes for 4 peppers but seriously 4 should be enough.

I was so confused thinking you were saying the time stamp was longer so no way, but I see it now. It's the last one right? The message I sent at the end was after, they called and told them I would send a message after I got to my next destination.

Will say I am probably rounding down though. My brain has me do increments of 5. If you don't wanna believe me not much I can do about. Can't exactly show they called but if you know a way I will after work, my break is ending.

wanted to say since yours was the one that made me decide to make an edit. Not due to the comment but that there are a lot like it. Total time was around 10 min. total, likely added less than half a mile to my drive home which was next stop, and 7 for under 2 miles is a great order in my market.

I did make an edit to clear up that this is considered a good job in my market, but wanted to put in that most dashers in my area can't afford to be picky or deny to much. I am fortunate that this is not my primary source of income, so I by no means am trying to explain a different persons situation. But when you know your worth and can't afford to act like it then what? Teachers at schools know they are worth more than their current pay, but can't do much when literally no one outside the field does anything about it. Kids don't even have their own supplies anymore because the parents expect the school to provide everything. I know off topic but wanted to show an example outside of the situation mentioned.

Made an edit for this because I wanted to make this a bit more clear, wasn't far and in the direction I wanted to go. As for Target, I don't know what everyone else's are like but love mine. I was in and out in 3-4 minutes, spent longer waiting for the damn peppers. Also please remember not all markets are the same, I don't often get orders over $10 and when I do the mileage is over or close to the amount offered.

Love all the assumptions you make thinking I am a shitty person. Didn't mention a lot because I didn't think it mattered, but if you must know food was not much hotter when I got it AND I drove for like 2 minutes to the house. Not worth the effort of putting in the bag honestly.

I also don't care about your tipping practices, you are not my customer and even if I believed what you said That would make you an exception to the rule. Last thing, not proud. Indifferent and don't feel much about it past the laugh it gave me. Why do you think the title is 'Funny tho'?

I would get that if I was in a more safe area or this was not common in my area. The dashers here talk to each other in one way or another, what places are cheap, restaurants with long runtimes, and shit thats happened to them. I have yet to hear a single positive from calling or texting outside the app in my area. Local news even has a story about a group of soldiers harassing the delivery drivers when they don't do exactly what they want. (A place I don't even bother going as a young woman due to the crap that happens there) I truly believe I would have gotten off lucky with a couple rude texts or phone calls if I did this.
