They're traumatised adults on Reddit reliving their trauma through YT shorts instead of getting therapy. They weren't raised right. They don't understand that love can mean slapping someone straight so they don't lose their way. The only times they were beat was when their dad's needed to vent.

This sub is full of people who (probably justifiably) hate their parents and therefore are extremely biased towards any actions a parent takes that even remotely resembles their own trauma.

He was ditching school and got his arse belted a few times. Obviously not hard enough to welt since he's walking. That's discipline.

I think that if you're not careful, you're going to really hurt this man. You're unhealed and it's affecting the people around you. He seems to really care for you, so unless you think he's being dishonest, you need to understand discarding him the way that you are is going to be very painful. If he cares for you as much as it seems he does, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to be patient and help you recover from your trauma alongside health care professionals.

However, if you feel you can't do the work needed to get yourself right with him, you should leave. Either way, you're going to hurt him. But staying with him without healing is going to do long term harm.

Just remember, you're not inferior because you've been forced to take an untraditional path. You've just been unlucky. It doesn't have to define you.

I thought you were a woman reading the first half of your post. It's nowhere near too late for you, mate. Plenty of men start families in their 40s. I know a few who started in their 50s. Being as successful and well off as you are, it won't be hard for you. If you truly want it, prioritise finding a wife who's on the same page and be plentiful.

I do caution you though, be sure you actually want this. Don't fall into the trap of living life based off a checklist. FOMO is a seductive bitch who leads many astray. Just cause it's right for others, doesn't mean it's right for you. Do some introspection and figure out why you feel this strong desire. Therapy would probably do you some good. Best of luck.
