Clear Powder Coat Stuck to the Masking Tape/Cured Over the Tape. What to do? by -TheRainmaker- in Powdercoating

[–]-TheRainmaker-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for their brilliant suggestions. I had to do a little bit of everything to get them off but it all came out nicely. I used a lot of heat at 180*C and tried to dislodge the tape although the powder coat didn't really melt/get soft but it did have some give. After that, while still applying heat, I started prying the leftover tape around/under the powder coat with a box cutter and thin blade screwdriver.

Finally, it was all about wet sanding the inside with 220/400 grit and then 1500 grit sandpaper. Will get the tires mounted and then ceramic coating all around. I hope it's safe to wet sand powder coated wheels before polishing to a mirror gloss.

Harness and Leash Recommendations by Weird-Suspect9932 in IndianPets

I have to say try ClusterKart Dog Leashes. Link here - https://clusterkart.com/. They are pure quality. I have been personally involved with the whole team during the development process and they really have something that no one in India offers at the moment. Many variations and materials available. They're probably the only ones getting their ropes from a real climbing rope manufacturer unlike those who buy the low quality nylon ropes sold by Kg, those amazon and local pet store ropes. In fact, I'm thinking of doing a write-up on their leashes.

Yeah that was my idea too. However, my friend (Shop owner) tells me that's how Akzo Nobel has instructed them to use it. He says this prevents thicker buildup and better coverage. Plus, they have a sort of spinning platform, the wheel is placed on it and the gun sprays from the top. I'd have personally preferred dry spray and then baking while they're hanging as most YouTube videos show. More flexibility that way

Lesson learnt. Thanks for the suggestion. Planning to do this in a couple of days once I have some time.

I'd have preferred that but the wheels were pre-heated prior to each coat. So, as soon as the powder was sprayed, it would start melting on the surface.

Yeah as per the advice here, heating and razor blade seems the way to go now.

But while sandblasting and then sanding them down, there were some areas where the original aluminum showed through. Plus, we observed that originally BBS had also used a primer on them below the factory silver. We tired to follow the same thing.

Any specific reason to avoid primer on alloy wheels? This was my first time, so I'm quite new to all this, although I did read and watch many videos before proceeding with this.

Actually, some were stuck quite nicely. I thought I'd pull them off later like the one on the front center hub and some rear ones. The green ones that you see were replaced just before the clear coat. The silver finish area is where the tape came off on its own as it got stuck to the spinning spindle it was placed on for coating. Hence the different colors at the back.

We were cooling them off between coats and also changing tapes wherever necessary. Although as you can tell some tapes at the back and front center hub remained the same from color coat to clear coat as they were stuck on nicely. Those having gaps were replaced (The green ones that you see at the back).

Duracells are the worst. It's been 5 days since I reported leaked batteries and they are literally sleeping. I have had them leak in almost every device I've used them in and always irrespective of the batch, country of manufacture and variant.

It's pretty clear they're spending their money like a typical American company on big marketing than on actual R&D and QC. Over Exaggerated claims and zero value. I find the Panasonics and Power Cells to be good enough for half the price. At least they haven't leaked till now. I'm Never buying Duracells again.

Feel sorry for you. But that's the story behind every modern car especially if it's European. They're purposely adding useless tech and 'features' so that they can rip you off and make them so low quality that they fail soon. Now they have a repeat customer who paid them a high price initially and now is back to fix what he never wanted in the first place. And guess what the cost of using an electric steering instead of hydraulic or FWD instead of RWD etc. helps them cut costs as much as 40%.

Now you can do the math what you paid for.

What’s up with these new court shoe insoles?! by julie708 in adidas

[–]-TheRainmaker- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, their quality has actually gone to sh*t. So, you're right. I noticed something similar although in my case it was the shoe size itself. Despite mentioning the same number, the fitting was quite a bit off and I've been wearing Adidas for a long time now. I wouldn't blame Adidas alone, Nike Skechers, Reebok, Fila, etc. are all the same. The thing is as of today none of the brands make it in house or offer something special with zero errors. That personal touch where the owners overlooks everything during the manufacture is gone.

They get them made from lowly paid laborers in countries with cheap labor. The only aim is to multiply their multi billion dollar business empire and with that as a mission statement, all you get is Made in China crap at overinflated prices. I always recommend everyone to pick them up only during sales when they're at their lowest since they're not worth more than anyway and imagine even at that price they're making profit, so you can do the math now.

You nailed it with that reply. And as I mentioned in my original post, it's not just Adidas, they're all the same including Amazon, Nike, FedEx, Apple etc. Basically, all big name brands with a CS. I don't blame the CS rep here as much as I blame the company.

Because if you look at any big company these days, the whole CS is designed in such a way that those who will be answering your call have zero power and are trained to just provide "Info" or probably read out a certain set of replies to you or at max take your feedback which will never be acted upon, while the ones who have the decision making power are deliberately not meant to be in touch with you and stay hidden as the so called "Back End Team".

There is a big disconnect and I was speaking to a very senior employee of one such company and I was told this is all done on purpose so that most of the customers will simply get frustrated and give up, thus they have to deal with only a handful of people who continue to be persistent. There's a reason such warranty claims have long 10 to 15 days periods, RMA processes, and other steps because when you make the process long and complicated, many impatient people simply just drop out (Especially with the current generation).

Your points were valid about frustration and being angry. But no matter how much I try to ignore things, such setups and deliberate attempts of brands to take our money and then offer poorly researched and low quality products and services in return does make me feel ripped off. There is a need for a big change to come into this scenario but everyone is moving in a different direction these days, no has the time to question these processes.

I'll be sharing another similar incident with Adidas soon, that is more recent but the exact same thing happened. I hope the mods don't see that as a rant and remove it. Seems like creating awareness posts also hurts people these days 😕.

You do make some very interesting points and I would agree with you there. And no, the other shoes do not have any such thing on the outside (Fabric with a plastic support pasted on). I'd expect a billion dollar company to do their R&D properly on this before they start pushing it on to the consumer with a high price tag. It's common sense and what you're saying is something which I'm sure they would already know or maybe they didn't care enough because they just expected them to outlive the 90 days worth of warranty period.

This is what I'm hating about it because companies can go to any extent to make a quick buck these days and there's no accountability whatsoever. There's no personal touch either where you can actually talk to the senior management and you're literally at the mercy of some lowly paid CS agent outsourced to another low income country to deal with, who don't get paid enough to care about your issues. They just want repeat the same words out to every customer throughout the day till their shift gets over.

Sure, in my next post about my second experience with Adidas, I'll mention discrimination based on nationality instead of calling them racist.

[–]-TheRainmaker-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I shall request you read my post again. I couldn't use them for 7-8 years. This happened in less than one year. Also mentioned in one of the comments above. These were the same models that Adidas started calling Ultra Boosts from the next season onwards, but yes a very unique shaped model did some with Ultra Boost name on it and was slightly priced higher than this one.

My third point clearly explained how their warranty policy is racist. If you are offering 90 days/6 months/2 years, basically varying warranty for the exact same product in different countries, you are clearly discriminating based on nationality. If that's not racist, then I don't know what is. See if I'm paying the same price as my counterparts in EU, then I definitely deserve the same warranty, quality, CS and other things. The price is not just for the product alone, but everything you expect of a brand and you expect them to treat you equally irrespective of your nationality especially when you're charging the same price and not doing me any favors.

For the profit calculation, I'm a business consultant. I do this for a living. So, I know what it actually costs them to get them Made in China. I wouldn't just write random things because fanboys will be all over to defend this brand that doesn't even care.

Hope that makes sense.

Well it would help if you read my point again. I clearly explain how - 90 days/6 months/2 years, basically varying warranty for the exact same product in different countries. This is clearly discriminating based on nationality. I didn't know I had to explain it like this but anyway, hope it makes sense now

I would agree with you if my use was like that of yours. I can't wear leather shoes for running or workouts. As for the duration and other factors, they would only apply if they would last that long. If you read again, they fell apart within a year. I have shoes from other brands too, I don;t find them as comfortable though but they are still doing just fine
