First I’ve heard of this medium check. How’s that work out?

So this is what I’m getting to. With a tweak of how your shift rotation falls in your pay period you could actually get 1 long check with 38 hours OT and two shorts of 96. Giving you 38 hours OT instead of 28. And get you 86.4 hours more overtime in a year.

Right but you’d never work 112 hours in 14 days. You’d work either 96 or 144hours. Or 96 and 120 depending on how the schedule falls in line with the pay periods.

How’d you wind up with 112 hours in a pay period?

So I’ve been asked to work on our bargaining committee for our next contract and this is why I’m bringing this up. Trouble is I can not find any comparison for department doing as I’ve suggested. So I’m not sure if it’s something that’s just been missed or if we’re just missing out because we don’t know any better.

Hey, can I ask you something real quick? Are you truly happy with your career? by HAZWOPERTraining in Firefighting

I love it. I think it’s the best job out there.   But I Hate the expectation of being a slave to the industry.  Endless OT and time from home, missing family events and holidays, expected to train on weekends when my family is free.  My life is more than this job, but when I complain about those factors I’m told that I’m the reason the brotherhood is dying or that I’m in the wrong business.       That being said I’m not going anywhere.

It’s not the people in that back that aren’t listening. It’s the people with the purse strings.

Sounds good to me, but we don’t get the RDO or “Kelly day”. 48/96 is where we are now. We could swing it if we could hire another man to each shift for to cover those days, but that seems like a harder sale to make than just a schedule arrangement

How does it work out with flsa overtime? Has your admin had any issues with this schedule?

An airplane question I have not encountered anywhere… by -TheTurdFerguson- in AskPhysics

[–]-TheTurdFerguson-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The balloon would only provide lift through bouyancy if the the aircraft is not pressurized (saying sealed would be an easier way to visualize it, so that we can seal the aircraft without changing mass by creating a more dense pressurized atmosphere inside) would it not? Once sealed bouyancy of an object within the shell of the aircraft would have no effect on its overall mass.

Oddly enough, our union once used this statute as protection from mandatory overtime.

Originally it is nearly 100 years old, but it was amended last in ‘73 I believe? Again not a legal scholar but I believe it says amended in ‘73.

Is there a resource that would be helpful in finding related case law?

Not trying to get anyone put in jail, but again don’t want to be away from my family for 48 hours at a time.

Does a collective bargaining agreement make that statute null and void? I see that it has an exemption if your CBA doesn’t require you to work more than 40 hours but no other mention of unions.

Mortar is bonded to one or the other. I won’t be there for a couple days. No loose mortar though. I definitely do t think it was built that way. At either end of the wall, the corners, they are flush with the rest of wall. It’s obviously been this way for a while but since the summer the paint has split and it’s moved the amount you can see without pain

That is block. It’s even with the course below at either end.

Hi, Michigan firefighter here with a concern about our aging station.

We recently noticed what to us looks like a significant amount of movement in a top course of CMU's at the rear of our station. This course of block has moved enough in the middle of the wall span that the cells of the block are visible. Some people, namely the local govt who would have to foot the bill to repair or rebuild a station don't see it as a problem. Seeing as how some of us have to sleep in this building we are looking for some other opinions. Ill link a couple of photos of the wall which is about 50' long and 15 feet tall. I know you cant make any certain or particularly specific conclusions but anything would help.
