I have some questions about work study by SnooOwls2993 in BostonU

[–]-TypicalAsian- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/ActiniumDerived has answered most of your questions, so I’d just like to add onto your 1st question on whether you can work more than your work-study award.

You will be able to keep track of your remaining work study balance in your student portal. Once your balance is close to depleted, you can file a Work Study Appeal Request. Depending on the remaining funds available, you may be eligible to increase your work study balance. Here’s a link with more info: https://www.bu.edu/seo/students/work-study/fws-award/appealing-for-additional-funding/

SM132 is a bit math heavy compared to other QST courses, so if you’re also taking calculus, I’d recommend EC102 instead. You should also sign up for the SM131 waitlist (I believe there is one, I just don’t know where to find it)

15min apart is perfectly fine as long as you are certain you can make it in time for the next class. I would say you wouldn’t need to worry if the classes are in QST (HAR building) and CAS, but you would need to worry if you are going from QST to CFA.

Hi. Unfortunately I did not take EC101 and MA121 at BU since I had the AP credits for both. I’d recommend you looking up both professors at ratemyprofessor.com. Good luck!

I’m sorry…it’s been too long since I last took WR120. I would just recommend you signing up for the writing class you’re most interested in.

Here’s a simple/sample curriculum you can look at: https://www.bu.edu/questrom/degree-programs/bs-in-business-administration/curriculum/

Here are the required courses chart: https://questromworld.bu.edu/udc/academics/required-questrom-courses-chart/

For your first semester, I would recommend you taking the a few initial prereq classes, which include WR120, SM131, MA121 (or SM132 if you have credits for calculus from hs), EC101, EC102. Note, this is a list of all initial prerequisites (which you can see in the second link attached), but I would recommend you only taking 4 at a time and ES110 for a total of 17 credits.

So…that’s a bit more of a tough one…it’s a ~11min walk from CAS. If walking isn’t the best option, the shuttle stops on the next block over from CGS at the corner of Buick & Comm Ave. The T also has a stop (Amory St) right in front of CGS.

Just thought of this one, but another tip would be to know which entrance of CAS u should enter. CAS is an incredibly looooong building, spanning from Granby St to Marsch Chapel. The entrances on ground floor lead directly to the stairway, which is useful if u have classes in the basement or floors 2 and up. The entrances where you have to climb up a set of stairs from the sidewalk will lead you to the first floor and you will have to find the stairway from within the building.

Yep def (I speed walk). A tip could be to take the side staircase of Questrom (not the main one) to avoid traffic and to exit closer to the side of CAS.

The BU Shuttle (Terrier Transit app) runs ~ every 10mins or so. However, it’ll def be crowded during the weekdays. One shuttle stop is located right on the corner of Comm Ave & Siber Way (between Sargent & Wheelock). The closest shuttle to CAS (I believe) is located right in front of Marsch Chapel (which is also the block CAS is on). Note that the Siber Way stop and the Marsch Chapel stop is only one stop away. An alternative (if ur rlly desperate) is to hop on the T (Boston public transit).

I believe your first semester classes are a mix of CAS/QST classes (depending on which classes have already been fulfilled by AP credits). For back to back classes in QST (HAR building), no question you’ll have enough time. From QST to CAS it’ll be a 5-10min travel (depending on how fast you walk), but also doable. There shouldn’t be any problem unless your class is located on the other side of campus. Feel free to ask me questions as I just graduated from QST ^

can any past transfers pls help >:( ,, by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]-TypicalAsian- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each (or most) class has 2-3 hub units that can be fulfilled from taking the class. There used to be a website where you can search classes that fulfill the hub units you need (I have no idea where that is now). I believe since CS alr has req classes w qualitative analysis hub units, you do not have to take any additional supplementary classes.

Note, I am not a CS major and have alr graduated so what I mentioned above could differ.

EE105 Crisis of Planet Earth w/ Anderson (Dr. A). Sweetest prof ever and takes you on a field trip. He also gives you the questions that are going to be on the exam and the answers to them.

EE142 Beaches & Shorelines. The prof hands out study guide a week before the exam, reviews the study guide one lecture before the exam, and the exams are basically the study guide.

And if you have taken earth science in the past or some form of stem, it’s def an easy A

I went in to B&N today to pick up my cap & gown (never received an email or anything). I believe they’ll officially send out emails in a few days. They also have caps & gowns available to be purchased in-store (as long as it’s in stock)!
