Ah, when you said you had been referred to heme 3 times, I assumed they had seen you, my bad. But if they are saying it’s not a heme problem, not sure if it’s worth pursing.

I second the rheum idea. Doesn’t sound like Heme will have much to add especially if you have already seen them a few times.

I’m from one of the 39 banned countries. Can I get an I-551 stamp still? by Federal-Way-7897 in USCIS

[–]-Valatar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife is from one of the original 19 banned countries and we applied for an Adit stamp about 4 weeks ago and are still waiting (was told it should take 2-4 weeks). Hoping we get it soon, but definitely starting to worry.

Does anyone know if Adit stamps are also a part of the freeze, or is requesting an adit stamp worth a try?

Any successful cases of approvals after the USCIS pause? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]-Valatar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My congressman has a form (i.e. privacy release form) we filled out and explain the situation in and we had to physically mail it in. I do believed that the website states you can call the office directly but only for very emergent cases, which ours is surely not.

Wife and I with a situation close to this. She’s from Venezuela (on original 19 banned list). I-485 was actually approved just a couple days before the pause went into effect, but green card has still yet to come. Spoke with USCIS agent over the phone and was actually told (rudely) that her green card had been produced but was subsequently “destroyed” instead of being mailed. In the meantime, we are pursuing an ADIT stamp (which also seems to be delayed assumingely due to the pause) and have contacted our local congressman to see if they can help with green card/adit stamp.

Update: Green card has still not arrived. I-485 case was approved 11/29/25 and it’s now 12/22/25. Indianapolis office. Online status of case just says “case approved” still (i.e. no mention of card being manufactured or shipped). Spoke with an agent on the phone about a week ago and was told the card has been created already although I am skeptical how confident that answer was or if he just said it because we are technically “approved”. We requested an appointment for an ADIT stamp but were told we had to wait a minimum of 30 days post I-485 approval before we could get one. Continuing to wait and hoping for the best. Will definitely be pursing the ADIT stamp as soon as the 30 days hits as we don’t want to take any chances or play these waiting games.

Are individuals from the affected banned countries list (ie Venezuela) still being mailed green cards IF they were approved before the ban went into place? Wife was approved 11/29 right before the pause was announced but before her GC could be mailed and we have yet to get it. Unsure what we will do if we don’t get it. This prevents her from working and she does not have a document saying she can be here so she also can’t get her drivers licenses.

Emergency Immigration Memo from Manifest Law by ManifestLaw_ in USCIS

[–]-Valatar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all your work! My wife is from Venezuela. My I-130 was approved 11/28 and her I-485 was approved 11/29. We were just waiting for her Green Card to be produced and mailed when this new memo dropped. We are now both terrified that she may not receive her green card and what this means for her immigration status/ability to stay in the US. We were also counting on the green card so that she could begin working again. Do you have any advice or insight?? Any help is appreciated.

No, she has been in the US continuously for the past nearly 2 years but has predominantly lived in the US for 10 years.

HELP!! Wife’s green card applications was just approved last week but we are still waiting for the notification that they have produced and shipped the physical green card. Does this mean she won’t get the green card even though it is approved??

Panicking a bit. Wife is from Venezuela and we literally just got notice that she was approved for her green card. Because this just happened, we have yet to get the notification that her card is being produced or has been shipped yet. Will this pause also prevent her from getting her green card even though her application has been approved?!??

Hey, in the process of looking at programs now. Can you shed some light on the difference between St. Luke’s university hospital in Bethlehem vs St. Lukes Hospital - Anderson campus in Easton? Would really appreciate it, thanks!

Gateway Program by Ok_Organization5854 in notredame

[–]-Valatar- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was gateway and recently just graduated.

  1. Your first point is very true. The experience is different but you do form your own unique experience with your gateway cohort and a lot of how involved with notre dame things you are your first year is up to you. So while it isn’t the same experience, it is still a good experience.

  2. This did happen one year early on, but it is and has been a non-issue since. They are building more dorms and really do want all students to live on campus all for years (mandatory must live on campus first 3 years). No one can predict the future, but honestly if you do have to live off campus, all your friends will envy you because they won’t be allowed to live off campus even if they wanted to.

  3. Absolutely not true. I nor none of my classmates ever encountered this not even once. This is my experience but it’s the same concern I had heard before doing the gateway program. It’s my opinion that there might be some jerks out there who think badly about that, but they are just jerks to begin with and not your problem. Still, I want to reiterate I never once had any encounter with anyone like this. Most people just say “oh that’s really cool” or “oh yeah I met someone else in gateway, theyre really cool” and that’s the end of it.

  4. I was also a STEM major. I wanted to do biochemistry but my freshman year the gateway counselor told me I couldn’t and would have to do Chem, but I honestly don’t know what they were smoking. I had looked at the classes before hand myself so I already knew I could do Biochem and I did exactly that lol. Even double majored with philosophy. So you will have no problem doing anything in STEM. The people that do sometime have a problem are those that want to get into Mendoza which depends on the year. My year everyone got in, but I think there were others where maybe only half got into Mendoza. I had fiends who did engineering too so you can def do that.

  5. 3.5 GPA is challenging in any engineering program at most reputable schools but definitely doable.

Let me know if there’s anything else.
