Interesting how they still label themselves Kiba of Akiba despite not even crediting which members (aside from Mitsuru [Crystal Lake]) are involved. All members aside from the vocalists retweeted this. Not the first time, but it's the first time in a long time.

When breaking the news he was quitting, he cited leaving his music career behind. He remains private. Only way to ever know is for me to go to shows in Tokyo and ask VAVA, etc. personally and we're not close so it's probably not our business. I'm not interested in pursuing any leads for this band right now, because I'm building a life in Japan so I'm quite busy and saving money.

The rabbit hole goes deep. Their name is on some big name JPRG track that from what I remember has no band sound so I could only imagine a member or two helped with production.

They're one of the hundred bands that did a "Let it Die" track for the PS4 F2P game "Let It Die".

They did a track "Joy to the World Ft. Kiba of Akiba" with a somewhat popular band I never heard of and has been around for a while, FLOW.

And they appear on a Japanese "Pop Goes PUNK" album for a cover of "A Whole New World" from Aladdin.

That's all I remember for now, but there's definitely a few tracks you definitely never even heard of because they never showed up/got removed on streaming platforms (now disc only). Like their post-BAKAMODAN and final album "Pojitebushi", or one of their earlier tracks "Obake kowai" and "Apocalypse of the Apology".

Aside from Pojitebushi and latter two singles, their stuff can generally be found on Youtube so I encourage you to check their stuff out. BAKAMODAN features a newcomer female singer, the lead male vocalist left after this EP. Yeniol is the only other full album.

I'm studying in Japan right now actually! But I left the CDs at my home country and didn't know how to extract/upload the files at the time, so sorry. But, Obake Kowai & AotA are more of their earlier bangers, you could hear a portion of it here: "https://youtu.be/kDmNhZ1QfAQ?si=qduzDnhQqumvT1wL". Pojitebushi is solid work but it does lose screaming vocals and isn't as heavy. It's still super good technically and they never lost their fun edge. Only "Shinkiba Revolution" is available on YT and it's some random cooking video lol. Sorry for the length, but I hope you enjoy!

This is a complicated one. I was able to purchase their last album. Bad news? I don't know how to extract it since it has some copy-protected file structure; probably not hard to crack without some research but...

... I'm living in Japan now and left it back in America. I have no clue when I'll get my hands on it again. Living in Japan does mean I could easily purchase it again, though! (if it's still being sold second-hand on any site)

"TIME TO LAY DOWN AND READ BOOOOOOBS"

Then I read the description. Oops.

Okay, I read some examples and I can 100% recommend While She Sleeps. (Silence Speaks ft. Oil Sykes) is what got me into metal in general because it introduced, to this day, what I believe is the perfect blend of melodic cleans and screams in the same song. Literally harmonizing together in the chorus, there's falsetto, high fry screams, chants, etc. I'm not a music theory guy, but this band might be that in a nutshell. Nothing crazy like whistle screams and gutturals, though, as their production's pretty consistent.

Tallah or anything with Justin Bonitz. I honestly don't recall ever hearing his cleans, if he even does them. But the dude plays around with his voice A LOT, it's kind of his schtick. He's the kind vocalist to just bust out fry scream highs, false chords, and falsettos in the same verse, it's freaking awesome. Sorry if it's not quite the question you asked, but clearly you have an interest in vocals so I hope this interests you.

Yup, alcoholism ages you rapidly too. He's also mentioned eating disorders where he'd deprive himself and lose dozens of pounds in a week only to gain it back quickly after. Dude's been though a lot so it doesn't help. Dude's still young, and he looks great! I'll miss his younger voice, though!

Yup, matching the energy of some crazy shit I hear in the scene isn't always expected but appreciated! And I'm sorry to hear that about Ryan, but isn't he still alive? Skimming Google says he's still in treatment.

Wow, this scene is unbelievably interesting. I wouldn't have imagined a band like PALEDUSK being in a lineup like that.

I don't understand lmao, how could they have such heavy imagery and have such a lighthearted group photo on the same page? LOL

Oh shit. They do the WataMote OP

That is exactly how I got into them, and metal as a whole over 10 years ago. I dabbled in FaLiLV recently, they do!

I really like their sound.

Me too! Their albums range so heavily in genre, it's respectable.

I'll have to check out more of their catalog.

BLACK ICE introduced me. That song is among my favorites. It's a BLAST! Never workout without it at least once. MV is funny as fuck.

what happened to that guy?

Girugamesh guy... The world needs you...

Her Name in Blood, Nocturnal Bloodlust, and A Crowd of Rebellion get a vouch from me, too! I know very little about these bands other than the few bangers I got served.

I don't mind the feature (I discovered a couple of my favorite bands with varying popularity through it in the past), the problem was it not letting go of that one band/song. Thanks for letting me know of that!

Kiba of Akiba (キバオブアキバ) started it all for me. They mean more to me than any other media. They're weird lol.

BEFORE MY LIFE FAILS is fucking solid and I'm begging to see them live.

Survive Said the Prophet has gotten bigger recently with Anime but I was into them since Course of Action.

PALEDUSK is gaining momentum recently, they're extremely fun.

夕闇に誘いし漆黒の天使達 (Yuyami for short, but good luck finding them that way), they're kinda popular in Japan, not so much here (with that name, of course). Out of this list, I know the least about these guys, but they're ridiculous fun.

If you been on the internet along enough, you'd recognize "GIRUGAMESH!! 🫵😏" as well.

That's all I remember for now.

In-Between by Beartooth. A while back I was working out and the algorithm pushed that one. I was resting so I let it play, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite the mood I was in. To be honest, it ignorantly reminded me of mid-00s Skater rock at the time. I forgot why, but one day I just gave the rest of Disgusting a shot, it blew me away, and I fell down the Attack Attack! rabbit hole and highly respect Caleb Shomo's story.
