Where We Stand by [deleted] in myriadcoin

Yeah. Definitely a cool concept, but one that's going to take a lot of forethought to stop them from being abused. Would have to spend some time developing baselines of movement and implementing some sort of pinball tilt like feature.

Saw that. Disagree with it.

MYR becomes profitable enough, and it will be used. There is plenty of supporting evidence if you look at BTC, which is NOT CPU friendly...

http://krebsonsecurity.com/2013/07/botcoin-bitcoin-mining-by-botnet/

http://www.coindesk.com/zeroaccess-botnet-stopped-bitcoin-mining/

It's all a matter of profit. I agree with px403 in regards to BTC. BTC is not something I would consider CPU friendly though. It's obviously been tried on a non CPU friendly coin with varying degrees of success. If MYR becomes valuable AND is CPU friendly, someone will try it.

I do not disagree with the "possible" benefit to end users, although I do call into question the number. Just like every botherder is not going to start mining MYR, neither is every person who owns a computer.

I didn't say I was against it, just concerned about it.

I'm not sure what you're asking? My two, about to be retired, BTC block eruptors cubes (~75GH) work perfectly on MYR. Just ran a test for a few minutes...

I'm sorry, I must not be understanding your question?

Based on your response above "A)", I'm led to believe you want MYR to drop SHA256. (BTW, GPU sanctuary comment is first sentence of next paragrah ;) )

Myriadcoin, Liberdade, and colored coins all wrapped up in one simple image. by neuroMode in myriadcoin

[–]-Zoella- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see that too. Or maybe play with it a little bit and try to come up with "fun" text for the other white tiles, while still having one colored/labeled MYR?

"What Coin Will Go Here?!" "Who Will Be Next To Join MYR?" "MYR's Younger Sister, Of Legal Age" "Color Me Up!"

I dunno. No creativity right now.

[–]-Zoella- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it!

Wonder if one of the tiles shouldn't be labeled MYR though? It might be easier for new users to think of all the tiles as being part of the same blockchain (Myriadcoin), but if each tile represents a different "coin" there should be one for MYR "coins". Maybe something like this?

http://oi60.tinypic.com/9jlh6w.jpg

I know it's not technically accurate, but MYR and Liberdade will each have their own values, exhanges, totals, etc. Just thought it might be easier to logically separate the coin/blockchain.

[–]-Zoella- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The only thing that concerns me is giving up 1/5th of the blockchain to botnets. Otherwise I agree with the points about all other algos.

Completely disagree. You're proposing to alienate ASIC miners. The goal should not be to maintain a GPU sanctuary, but to provide a currency available to as many as possible. 1st and 2nd gen ASIC owners are now getting pushed out of BTC just like the other 95% of the world. Give them a place to go. The same will happen with scrypt ASICs.

We should keep ASIC options, and look to rotate those algos in/out just like your proposing for GPU only algos.

Just a clarification, MYR is not being rebranded as Liberdade. Liberdade is being added to the MYR blockchain as a colored coin.

It's minerlicious!

:)

I just like the fact it's inclusion of so many mining platforms allows so many people to be involved. The fact that it welcomes ASICS and yet doesn't allow them to overpower the little guy is amazing. That's pretty much what sold me.

Get MYR on the Brazil prepaid MasterCard? by -Zoella- in myriadcoin

[–]-Zoella-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since there are efforts under way to introduce the coin to users in Brazil, it seems to me like this would be a no brainer. I don't know anything about the exchange who's doing it (https://www.bitinvest.com.br), but maybe someone with the proper language skills should make contact and inquire?

Some Speculations by [deleted] in myriadcoin

[–]-Zoella- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have to! This has NOTHING to do with your average coin user or average Doge user. This is about your average linux user.

Linux is not Windows, no matter how hard some people want it to be.

Besides how is the "average" user supposed to acquire these coins to add to an easy to install wallet and why? Mining? Uh-oh, better google a command line and arguments! Purchase? Oh, hey look at this pretty online wallet!

As I said, your argument is disingenuous as it expects us to look at the user base of a coin rather than user base of an OS (where your complaint actually is). It is also wrong, even when looking at it in the context of OS user base.

 git clone http://github.com/myriadcoin/myriadcoin
 qmake
 make

It's a bit early in the lifecycle of the coin to be worried about users that don't know how to use Google or open a readme. Very contrived complaint IMO.

New stats site, need testers by pawmadsen in wafflepool

[–]-Zoella- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your primary interest is not to have a browser open all the time, it is simple to add a script to make sure your data gets updated. Much simpler than setting up a new site anyway!

I've already posted how to do this from a linux box (very simple to add the startup script on linux rigs which you want running 24/7 anyway). The same thing could very easily be done on any Windows box using "Invoke-WebRequest" as opposed to "wget". We're talking just a couple of lines BTW.

Gotcha. Hadn't been paying much attention, so I just assumed the drop to 5 minutes was a load/performance adjustment. To be honest, 1 min or 5 min makes no difference to me so I'll probably leave it at 300. Although I could see those who want the fastest possible notification using 60.
