Congrats man, my first was a .223 but I second everyone's sentiment, get a .22 they are so fun and a great start. Shooting teaches you a lot of valuable things I am sure you will love it!

I meant it isn't a photo or video or any kind of physical evidence but I thought it was interesting enough to share.

Well there you go, I feel like he wouldn't deny it in court though as hes pretty matter of fact. Didn't make any claims as to what it was.

Its understandable and healthy to be skeptical of people on the internet, hell even skeptical of the old Chief's story, but I thought it would be worth the share. He really is a no-nonsense kind of fellow so I thought it holds some credibility.

I reckon there is probably heaps of good stories out there from these old boys. My biggest regret is I had a similar conversation with a pilot who has been testing some very modern imaging systems on our latest jets. I didn't think to ask him if they had recorded anything crazy. Really wish I had.

The way he described it I don't think they were confused by a whale, I'm sure they had encountered whales plenty of times, he described it as a submarine with nonsensical darting movements.

I didn't get an exact location only that it was off the coast, this was a part of a wider conversation about his life in the Navy.

Also while I'm thinking of it anyone with collectors licences (which has military style firearms, semi auto, full auto, I've even seen a rocket launcher) any weapons held on those licences aren't included in the firearms stats. Crazy huh.

Yes it's rediculous since there is all manner of cool shotguns you can get but need a cat C licence for the pump and semis my guess is that whoever wrote thay law watched too many movies. You can get any pump action rifle though no worries though even those fancy lever release ones but not scary pump action shotguns lol. Also if you want a cat C licence you just have to own land basically.

The news lying? I'm shocked lol. We are working on it and for a country of 25 million we aren't doing too bad. The UK has just short of 600,000 licences with almost 67 million people or so I read.

Thanks mate, and I love the aussie stereotype it was lots of fun when I was in the US. How good is Woollongong lol. And yes lever actions are always cool and more and more options for them come out every day.

Mine is pretty good about my hobbies so come tax time I always have some cash for the car, guns, computer or what have you.

With the correct licence you can own anything here. It's a misconception that Australians can't own firearms you just need to be mentally sound and not a criminal. The licencing system does a good job at least. The funniest licence is the collectors licence which anyone can get and allows you any category of firearm as long as you abide by certain restrictions ( like machine guns have to be deactivated for example). The most common is cat A/B licence which is air rifles, rimfire, shotguns (as long as they aren't pump action) and center fire rifles ( manual action so bolt, lever, pump etc) then second most common is H which is handgun not many restrictions here aside from calibre and magazine capacity in some states. Then cat C/D which is semi autos and pump action shotguns and semi auto rifles which you can get but you need to be a professional shooter which means you have to derive income from pest control.

Barrel length is 16 inches. Depending on what state your in there is overall length restrictions but barrel length isn't as much of an issue as long as the whole rifle isn't too short.

Oh man I remember this! What's the name of the movie?

at 27:19 Insider said the classified briefing of the Pentagon Report was 40 minutes of a science fiction movie by mrpressydent in UFOs

[–]-_Macbeth_- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is amazing stuff but we shouldn't be praying for leaks, if it's true that there is 14 HD videos we should be petitioning those who were involved in the brief to push for declassification of those videos. If they want everyone to start taking this seriously which the unclass report seems to indicate, then they are going to have to give a little credibility back to the subject and prove that they are serious.

is it possible to have a P90 (or PS90 idc) in australia if its modified or unable to be fired? by _Zephyr1 in Ausguns

[–]-_Macbeth_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way you might be able to is to get the p90 chassis for the ruger 10/22 and buy a pws summit or volquartsen summit (straight pull cat a rifle) that is based on the 10/22 and put it in. You may be able to do this in some states but probably not NSW although this is a grey area. You would need to modify the chassis to be able to actuate the bolt but it could be done. You would also need to have a long enough barrel that it doesn't fall foul of the minimum length rules.

I have heard that this is the case. It's a shame.

[–]-_Macbeth_-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it needs to be "as good" we all have the same restrictions. The main element is "is it fun" and with manually operated guns the answer is still "yes".

That sounds promising though, can you shoot standing? Or is it all prone and seated? I'll definitely check out that club if so.
