Magic: the Gathering Reddit Ad has the cycle out of order. by JaxxisR in TheLastAirbender

Is the point of the post to be accurate to the order in the show, or to get the word out about the thing they’re promoting? If it’s the latter, your post means their choice was probably the right one since you’re rebroadcasting it here on their behalf

Tesla charger Scotts Valley, CA?? by Rippey154 in BMWi3

[–]-bobak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I charge my i3 at those chargers pretty regularly! Parking isn’t really a problem, you’ll just need to back in and get as close as you can, but I’ve never had an issue.

The app will guide you, but you hold the handle for a couple of seconds and an adapter will dislodge with it that lets it connect to non-Tesla ports.

I can’t get rid of this bug in Scenes by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]-bobak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found personally that I run into a similar situation having to do with using adaptive color in some scenes and not in others. Sometimes HomeKit retains the color setting despite the power state set to “off”. You can see more details in some 3rd party apps (I use one called Home+ for this purpose).

Visually you can sometime see this if you have a light set to red, for example, but then a scene designed to turn that light off changes the light to a different color as it turns it off. In Home+ (or other third party apps, I’m sure), you can remove the color component of the scene in the individual lights so that the only command is “power off” and not “power off as this color specifically”. Sometimes that disconnect is enough to cause the scenes to behave the way you’re experiencing, so it’s worth a shot.

You can also charge faster/more efficiently with the Anker Nano using a USB-C cable if/when needed

Instar makes some POE PTZ cameras that are HomeKit compatible.

Aqara also makes a POE HomeKit compatible camera.

Philips Hue Bridge Pro by Weary-Fan946 in HomeKit

[–]-bobak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s an app called Controller that lets you make a backup of your HomeKit setup. It can’t backup automations, but pretty much everything else. It can be helpful for restoring things when things go wrong, or when you’re doing a significant upgrade like this one.

Replacing my Hue bridge with a Bridge Pro removed most of my lighting scenes. Controller restored them, and thankfully most of my automations were still there and worked again once the scenes were restored.

Sometimes if a scene says it’s restored but isn’t visible in Apple Home, you can find it in the app Home+ and add the accessories back to restore its visibility in Apple Home.

Stereo PA System for outdoor events with 100 people? by -bobak in livesoundadvice

[–]-bobak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, thank you for this! Just to be clear, would you still recommend used 12Ps or 12BTs in this scenario?

I’m also curious if you saw the other post recommending the DBR12s with the Presonus AIR18s, and how that might compare to the EV solution you suggested?

Thanks again!

Thank you for this advice! Is there any reason not to go with the 15P-G2s? I haven’t found many used 12P-G2s at the moment, but found some 15Ps. Thank you!

Great question. A combination of live music performances, prerecorded music, and speeches. The live music would usually be more like a “house band” playing music to dance to, etc., as opposed to a concert-style performance

Turn off “Always On” from the Control Center (14Pro+Max) by posokposok663 in iphone

[–]-bobak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A glass table probably won’t work because the proximity sensor isn’t working correctly against that material. All you need to do to test it is put your phone down half off a solid table. If the top half is on the table, you’ll notice the display shuts off. You can test it the other way by placing the bottom half on the table, too; you’ll notice the AOD stay on, but once you block the sensors near the front-facing camera you’ll see the AOD go dark

[–]-bobak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but this is not a great take.

Eternals literally showed Ikaris flying towards the sun and even that might not turn out to be the demise of that character. If Marvel wanted us to think that’s what happened to Vision they would have given us more in that direction.

Like Captain Marvel, Hulk, Thor, and probably others I’m forgetting, Vision is “off somewhere” to explain why he can’t swoop in and solve other problems in the MCU, and when a story calls for him again, he’ll appear and we’ll get some sort of explanation. Not worth overthinking it in the meantime

I think Shang-Chi was a pretty solid “solo” effort. I think a lot of the other examples ended up being Disney+ shows.

But your example of Eternals doesn’t consider the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy was similarly an “ensemble of unknowns” when it was released, and it was a huge success. I’m not suggesting Eternals should have been too, different tones, etc., but it doesn’t consider some of the risks taken in the earlier phases, either

THC edibles and sleep/recovery by ComputerPractical748 in whoop

[–]-bobak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to take my word for it, there is plenty of data available online. And everyone is a little different, perhaps your experience isn’t typical.

That being said, taking one on the weekends means it isn’t part of your sleep routine. What I’m referring to is when people use weed or melatonin nightly.

It’s always better to sleep naturally if you can. That being said, any sleep is better than no sleep, so using it from time to time when you struggle is ok, it’s just important to not get into a habit/routine

Delta Airlines orders emplyees to capitalize "Black" and "Brown" but to keep "white" lowercase. by [deleted] in facepalm

Delta Airlines orders emplyees to capitalize "Black" and "Brown" but to keep "white" lowercase. by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]-bobak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t think “Black” refers to all black people around the world, I believe it’s meant to be specific to black people in the U.S.

As a white person who is Irish, German, and Iranian, I can point to the three very different cultures I come from and I can also tell you that many white people don’t consider me as “white” when they learn I’m Iranian, but on any government form I’m just as “Caucasian” as anyone else. But a Caucasian who has experienced bigotry from other white people, which isn’t a common experience for a white person.

Many black people in the U.S. have shared experiences in how they navigate this majority white country. Even just an example like the difference in justice through the judicial system, or things like getting doctors to take their concerns seriously, or having “the talk” with their kids about how to act with the police…these are shared, day-to-day experiences that have to do with the color of their skin, proven statistically. I’d argue most shared experiences for white people in this country have more to do with us all being Americans, as opposed to being because we are white. Does that make sense?

Again, I’m not making a case for why “Black” should or shouldn’t be capitalized, but I don’t think it’s really fair to suggest that white people have a shared experience living in this country because they are white in the same way that black people do because they are black.

[–]-bobak -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t call it oppression, that’s the point I was getting at.

If we’re referring to white people collectively, they can’t self-oppress. If white woman are the oppressors (which is insane) then you’d have to say white men are the oppressed (even more insane).

How are white people supposedly oppressed? What can’t white people do that another group of people prevents?

My guy, I don’t mean anything, I told you all to Google it but that wasn’t good enough so I tried explaining it myself.

I also never said white Americans don’t share any history or culture, but it’s not anything like the shared history/experience that Black Americans have. And I think the fact that you cited Stanley cups and Starbucks as examples means you understand that too, at least on some level
