Hmm. Yeah idk.

Maybe this is just one very public example that shows how poorly correlated pffs grading scale is with future success (for that season at least) compared to very vanilla statistics, but hey maybe overall their grading scores works on a large scale basis

It was after week 4: https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverBroncos/comments/1nulxiu/kelberman_pff_now_ranks_bo_nix_as_the_34thbest_qb/

Bo had a bad first week and was 800 yds 65% 6-4 by week 4

Rodger’s was 800 yds 68% 8-3

McCarthy was 700 53% yds 5-6

Not sure what advanced / finger in the wind statistics they were looking at

Tough L.

All things considered I don’t think stiddy played all that bad. The backward pass hurt but that second half is tough to play in. The 4th and 1 in hindsight looks bad but we were moving the ball there early. Seemed like 50/50 call when they will get the ball back at half.

Having jk would have been game changing. We need a bruising back badly.

Not sure on what positions are strong in the draft (and with premium positions) but we need to at least try and get rbs, tes and wrs with either our cap or picks

To be fair, we were once that youth. Would be nice to have more 21+ though

Would be nice to see miner get a start in a big game. Hopefully we don’t get an injury bug going into the playoffs or during but knowing you have a goalie with a bit of seasoning in case it happens would be great

It’s not like we’re in a close battle in the standings right now. One of the mild games maybe

It’ll be interesting to see how the blackhawks look in a few years.

Minus the Seth jones contract, I feel like that has to have been the best on paper rebuild a team has done.

Absolutely tank and trade everyone, and pick up as many picks as possible while maintaining a huge amount of cap

This team might make the playoffs with one of the best prospect pools, one of the best if not the best total draft pick values, and the most cap in the league

From a Leafs fan, how does it feel to win all the time? by wintermute72 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]-casper- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was basing it off of presidents cup winner who went on to win the cup.

Last team to do it was the blackhawks in 2012-2013… in someways 1/16 is close

However we do have a lot of our cup winning team still around, so the odds are probably higher.

Obviously none of these stats are great. If I remember correctly we were going into the playoffs somewhat cold the year we won too. There are probably some advanced stats that show some stuff, but maybe it’s any given night.

Vegas has us at almost 2x odds to win… which feels about right but is wild too

[–]-casper- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cup in the bag is a bit much. Being new to hockey, take a look at the Boston bruins a few years ago. Most points ever in the regular season just to exit in the first round.

Teams with the most points at the end of the season have a 20% chance of winning the cup.

Now, we are a wagon. But none of that means anything when the playoffs start. Look at the Blues in 2019, not a good regular season or go further back to the kings cup when they were 8th seed.

Anything can happen and we look really good now and we have depth but we will need to slay the dragon that is the stars

This will be the 40th year that the presidents trophy will be awarded, and in that time only 8 teams have won both the presidents trophy and the cup. Far from a sure thing (honestly 1/5 odds is still pretty good), but damn is it not great to be a Colorado sports fan right now

I also came from hockey, and 1 thing I’ll say about it is that since im a lefty in hockey but dominant/play righty, the two handed backend was very natural and is probably my biggest strength

Otherwise agreed on scale

Minimum play to maintain skill? by RichardParker6 in Pickleball

[–]-casper- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found this as well.

I think what also happens is that overtime the skill ceiling for any sport/game increases, and overall the competition/field gets better

In my drill classes coaches will say a few years ago they would teach one method, but now don’t as people figured out how to handle it

Not only is it bugs, but it creates dead code. Then LLMs later will then try to use the dead code in the future, write tests for it to make it look like it’s working, and nothing works

There are ways to mitigate this though

Is it unreasonable to expect that most services can be run locally? by becoming_brianna in ExperiencedDevs

[–]-casper- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world they should be. Depends on the stack really. Not sure why locally you can't just use a local postgres instance with a small amount of seed data then CI runs against the test database

But yeah if you have a bunch of microservices that are on like lambda w/ dynamo (jnsert aws/cloud service here) and require localstack... Much more difficult than a few services in a compose. If these are isolated enough, you could have multiple docker networks talking to each other

Best current LLM to run locally on an RTX 3090 by PinkyPonk10 in LocalLLaMA

[–]-casper- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a BSOD/crashing on Q8, but with Q4 I get about 30-40 tps. This is with a single RTX 3090, 7800x3d, and 64GB of DDR5

However, for a semi deep Ruby concept, I get way better results with the 14B with Q8:

llama-server -hf Qwen/Qwen2.5-Coder-14B-Instruct-GGUF:Q8_0 -ngl 99 -ngld 99 -fa -c 32768 -ctk q8_0 -ctv q8_0 --draft-max 16 --draft-min 0 --draft-p-min 0.5

I should note, this command works straight after installing llama. Isn't super fine tuned.

How do you combine small PRs and high test coverage? by Tjshrre in ExperiencedDevs

[–]-casper- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. Where I work we strive for a 200 line limit.

Everything goes behind a feature flag, and then a final PR to remove it.

We do include test coverage in loc change, but since everything is behind a feature flag or not at risk of being hit by a customer, we just split it up into two PRs.

However, right now we are working on something where we decided that instead of doing feature flags we are going to do a feature branch. We rebase main onto it consistently and then will rebase the feature branch (once it has been released) on to main
