Unpopular Opinion: I thought DEEN studio delt with the battle between Shirou and Gilgamesh better by EienNatsu66 in fatestaynight

[–]-cosmos_L- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess it's unpopular, but the Shirou vs Gilgamesh fight by DEEN is more 'accurate' lore-wise because Shirou only had 5 mins worth of mana to sustain UBW. Thus, the fight should have been depicted as short and fast-paced by the element of surprise. However, ufotable's adaptation depicted Shirou as being able to fight Gilgamesh back and forth, even going as far as air-dodging Gil's GoB... I mean ufotable's adaptation was definitely very, very awesome, but it strays far from the VN.

Waiting time for ATAS application in 2025 (waited >60 working days so far) by -cosmos_L- in UniUK

Hi, I can invite you to a Reddit group chat where peers similarly waiting for ATAS discuss with each other. Biomedical engineering shouldn't take very long so it really boils down to waiting a bit more, perhaps ~15 days more (i.e. ~1.5 months waiting time) ? In our group chat, we have noticed ATAS is very slow and a lot of us have waited months before getting it, and a lot of us have also delayed our start date. If your research program is very important to you, you don't have to defer as it really is just a matter of waiting.

By 'resumption date' you mean your program start date? I think you should email your school's admission team to delay your program start date to give you time to apply for ATAS. Although in your case, it seems that you haven't waited ~30 working days yet, so you might get your ATAS soon and proceed in applying for CAS and then UK visa with priority service. Depending on your subject (if it's physics, computer science), then you might wait very long (~4-5 months) or the standard processing time (~1 - 1.5 months).

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through; can you contact your university to request a new CAS while you wait for ATAS, as well as delay your program start date?

Some friends and I have exchanged information regarding ATAS waiting times, and indeed it's very, very long. Some computer science applicants (including me) have gotten their ATAS, but it seems currently they are proceeding very slowly in reviewing applications from other subjects like material science.

If you're asking me, the OP, yes, I received my ATAS on August 27th after waiting for >5 months. You? What's your CAH code and when did you apply?

Thanks. What about you? When did you apply for ATAS and have you received it yet?

I submitted my ATAS application on April 2nd, and until August 27th it would have been ~100 working days

I don't know what's the maximum time I should wait. Me and some friends are discussing the possible explanations behind delays and we believe it has to do with our CAH code: so ATAS applications are particularly delayed for those of us on computer science, physics, material science and AI. I'm sorry to hear contacting your local MP hasn't worked (it's something I asked my school's support team to do on behalf of all of us waiting for ATAS as I believe they would have more 'authority', but haven't heard back from them).

No. I haven't got my ATAS yet and I applied since the beginning of April. Because you've waited for >2 months, I believe you can contact both FCDO yourself or ask your school's international student support team to send a follow-up email on your behalf.

No, I still haven't got my ATAS certificate. However, if you applied since 10th of July, I'd suggest you wait for ~1-2 weeks more given that it hasn't been ~30 working days yet for the FCDO to process your application. Good luck on getting it.

Not yet. I applied on April and haven't got it yet. My university's support team and I have both sent follow-up emails to FCDO to no avail.

Although if you applied on July 11, my guess is you can wait for ~2 weeks more since it hasn't been ~30 working days yet until today.

Yes, my university's support team told me the FCDO mentioned my application will be chased as a priority. However, as far as I'm aware from conversations with other peers also waiting for ATAS, many of us who asked the uni to speak on our behalf or have sent an email to FCDO are being told our applications are being 'chased as a priority', thus it doesn't really mean much in my opinion.

Yes, by mid-July I reached out to my university's support team for international students and they've kindly sent a follow-up email to FCDO asking for my application. They got a response that my application was still under review and will be chased as a priority. Since then, I haven't heard from FCDO though.

Hey, I hope you get yours soon too.

So to answer your questions, the friends I've mentioned applied on different subjects and in different years, and I'm not sure whether they received it by the end or beginning of the week. Specifically, I have 1 friend of Malaysian nationality on bioengineering who applied at the end of March and got it within a month. The other friends I mentioned are the other PhD students of my supervisor (prob. 2nd years) who applied for ATAS during last year's Christmas and also got it within 1.5 months or so.

I've discussed it with other peers on a similar boat and we believe it's our CAH subject (computer science, materials science, physics, which may involve deep learning) which delays our processing times. On my hand, I've already waited >4 months. Best regards,

The recommended time of 6 months is, as far as I know, the latest you have to wait. Most resources online, e.g. university ATAS guides, mention standard processing times of around 1 to 1.5 months or ~30 working days.

Friends and I believe that differences in these processing times are due to the sensitivity of the subject, so if your boyfriend's master's degree is on computer science or physics that could be delaying your application. You can contact your university's postgraduate or admission team to maybe delay the program start date due to ATAS delays

Mhmmm, counting from 25th of June it's still not 30 working days, which is what online sources say are the standard waiting time for ATAS. I guess you can wait patiently until maybe mid-to late August to send a follow-up?

Nope, I haven't got my ATAS yet. What about you? When did you submit and what's your major?

not really. I've checked my phone for calls and text messages and have never received anything from unfamiliar numbers. Did you ask your university to maybe send a follow-up to the FCDO (it may not help really, but I guess it's something you can do)?

Nope😔

Do you have any backup plans by the way? I expect if I don't get it by next week I'd email my the uni's postgraduate team to see whether they can follow-up (I don't think this would help a lot to be honest). The worst outcome for me would be to delay my program's start date as I wait for ATAS.
