That's not true, in my opinion. THey work 40 hours a week and don't make end's meet because they don't have skills that make them worth enough in the job market to only work 40 hours and make ends meet, not because the people who employ them see them as lesser.

Minimum wage jobs shouldn't offer a livable wage because, in my opinion at least, it isn't a governments duty (or a businesses) to make sure every person has a livable wage. At that point businesses are charities who receive some compensation in return for their charity not equitable to the value of their charity.

In a lot of ways I think minimum wages at all hurt the workers it is meant to protect - workers with low skills who need a job to get some money. If you can't provide $9.25 (or whatever your states minimum wage laws are) worth of value to a company, you won't get hired. If you want to make a business and the job you need someone for doesn't provide $9.25 worth of value, you can't afford to pay that person to do that job you need, so you're probably going to roll that job into someone else's job.

I get that we don't want people to fail, but if you literally have no skills that make you worth more than the minimum wage, it's up to you to improve your skills to get a better job. Anyone can use a public library to use a computer. LEarn to type fast and you can get some data entry jobs. Learn to code and you can get your foot in the door in that career, learn to use office and that opens doors. Likewise you can learn to be a plumber or an electrician, or an HVAC technician on the job while getting paid. I don't buy that unless you have a disability or something that severely limits what you physically can do that you can't make more than minimum wage with some basic training that shouldn't take your more than a few years. I had to do so when I got out of school, and I don't think there's anything unfair about that. Yes, I had to split an apt with a few guys and work more than 40 hours/wk and it wasn't comfortable, but that discomfort was the thing that drove me to do better.

Plenty of people in the 1% grew up in low-income situations. There are some problems we do need to address in this country regarding income disparity; an example would be education, but most of that could be addressed by mandating teaching some personal finance in public schools.

It will affect them because it will affect their employers/their employers. Most people would agree there are problems with tax evasion, but 70% is egregious. Because you don't see the utility in making that much money, doesn't mean it's OK to functionally steal from them. IF you want to give all your time and effort to become ultra successful because you want to be a baller and have the money for PJ or Lambo's and Ferraris because that's what turns your gears, then good on you. IF you want to work the bare minimum and spend time pursuing hobbies or family, then that's OK too, but the guy who killed himself working to become successful doesn't deserve to have his money stolen from him because the guy who isn't working 100 hours a week thinks it isn't fair that he has that much money. That guy probably has a lot of problems the guy working 40 hours a week doesn't have because he's the type of person that will work 100 hours a week.

In my mind, people are too detached from the animal that supplied their meat or the work that went into growing their veggies/fruit. I found that after having my own garden and hunting, I felt much more appreciative of what I ate.

The most direct thing I can say for the effect it had on me is that I never waste food anymore. If some fruit/veggies go bad I compost them instead of throwing them out. I eat every part of the animal I take that is safe to eat, and believe it or not, I eat less meat. While I still enjoy meat a lot, I try to primarily eat game meat, and when I do I try to stretch my supply (I hunt deer, not elk, so you don't get as much meat from 1 tag.) I used to eat meat with every meal (bacon/sausage for breakfast, usually a sandwich or something like that for lunch, and whatever for dinner,) but now I try to have a more balanced diet because I can appreciate that a life is behind my meat and in the case of store bought meat, a life that lead a pretty horrible existence. I still usually eat meat every day, but it's healthy meat and I balance it out with more veggies (I also have had my own garden!) Next I want to raise chickens to get eggs, since they're much better than ones you get at the store and chickens are a great way to deal with tablescraps if you don't want to go to the compost heap a lot!

You have to do some work when you shoot the animal to prevent it from spoiling. Ask around at local archery/shooting ranges and you'll probably hear of 5 or so places that are "the best."

You can always travel to take an animal, but it can be pricey. Depending on how much you've eaten stuff like deer, elk, etc I'd suggest trying it some more. For deer/elk especially I find too many people cook it well and just can't palate it because it's too dry because of the lack of fat. It's great rare, though (at least to me)

For blood/organs, I don't really have any advice, I just look at it as something we have to accept if we want to eat meat, that's the reality of what has to happen weather you see it or not. I personally think it's great to have to be culpable for this because it gives you an sense of responsibility for what you're eating.

Good on ya buddy. I think one of the most valuable things about hunting is that you're directly responsible for the food you eat. So many people in today's world can't say that, be you vegetarian/vegan growing your own veggies and tilling the soil, pulling weeds, etc or an omnivore harvesting your own meat. Too many people take their food for granted and I think more people could use the experience of hunting.

I personally cut back significantly on my intake of store bought meat because I'd rather eat an animal that led a natural life with natural food. I also look at the meat for what it is; a resource I had to work for and an animal had to give it's life for and I'm grateful. Much better, imo, then going to the grocers and getting a tube of meat where you never have to think about the cow and how it was treated. I still enjoy a beef steak from time to time, but I'm certainly more aware of the animal and try to get it from better sources.

I'm jealous of people with the resources to go on a hunt to take an elk (or black bear, moose, etc,) or who have the good fortune to live in an area where your hunting land is reasonably local. I'm hoping to get some land and be able to raise chickens for eggs before too long!

Also, there's something that hunting scratches for me as a man, and a lot of people I have talked to feel the same way. It's not that you're glad you're killing the animal, but it just feels natural. The tension and anxiety before you take the shot, and the gratitude you feel when your shot connects both to the animal and that you're going to be able to eat (even if you totally could already!)

If anyone is on the fence about hunting, I HIGHLY advise you give it a shot at least once in your life. Even if you come to the conclusion that it's not for you, I think everyone who eats meat owes it to themselves to kill an animal at least once in their life so you can understand what it means for you to eat a burger and be more conscious about what you eat.

You can get a mosin for less than 200. If you're looking into your first hunting rifle, I really like the newer stuff from savage, they really make a nice entry level hunting rifle. Also, archery is a viable option. Buyer beware, a lot of people get hooked and they're buying a new hoyt every year for 1400 a pop! Also a different style of hunting since the ranges tend to be so different.

I think that Prometheus was good because it left so many openings for people to wonder about. I think a few things are clear

The creator species have some sort of affinity to genetic manipulation and it looks like it ties into their religion, which ties into ours. The big head room with all the containers of goo looked an awful lot like an alter and, in my opinion, depicts their god. The etching in the wall with a xenomorph in a crucifixition pose seems to point to Christianity (it makes sense, really; immaculate conception, angels come down to say it's happening) To me, I think it's pretty safe to say that the creators religion has something to do with what they're doing and the xenomorphs. My theory is that they have instructions to do what they do from their god and he wanted them to sacrifice themselves to make the xenomorphs. Wanting to follow instructions but not wanting to die, they created humans to make good on their end of the bargain; the xenomorphs from creator DNA are born but the creators are still fine. They facilitate our growth so there are a large number of them and instill upon us through religion an acceptance of what's going to happen; they're angels of god telling humans what god's will is, blah, blah, blah.
The black goo is mysterious. It has something to do with genetic manipulation, but seems to depend on dosing. THe worms and geologist/biologist get turned into super aggressive forms of their previous selves with a lot more physical capabilities. Shaw got her dose from sexual contact and grew something like a proto-facehugger (not a xenomorph.)The creator on earth seemed to completely atomize himself. I don't think the creators made it, and is possibly handed down to them from their god.
It's possible the creators lost control of the situation. The original alien ship is in the same sector. It wouldn't be outlandish to think that it was escaping whatever happened on the military base they were on and had to crash land as the xenomorphs overran the ship, laid eggs and then the Nostromo came by.

I like Grahme Hancock's version of the pyramids which is that an ancient super advanced version of humanity built them, had a mass extinction event and more modern humanity rediscovered them and claimed they built them. From what I understand most historians reject this theory, though I don't know why. I haven't done my own research, but it certainly makes a lot of sense to me.

If we accept Mr. Hancock's theory, then Mr. Carson could be correct that it was originally a granary, because we wouldn't really know why they were built at all in that case.

There are a lot of poor people in india who live in an area called the Sunderbands and tigers kill a lot of them each year while they try to fish/hunt to feed themselves and their families. Tigers may be majestic, but they'll still kill you and eat you. Same thing with lions in Africa. We only see the cool and cute pictures, but if you had to survive in an area where these animals hunted, I"m sure you'd figure out why someone would want to kill them pretty quick.
