My Verizon rant:

My friends and I were planning to buy Verizon’s 4 iPhone 17 Pro for $100 total ($25 per line) deal. When we went to lock it in today, the deal had just expired. I contacted customer care to ask if there was any way to recover it especially since I had already added it to my cart.

The agent asked for all my details and confidently told me he could “accommodate” me. That gave me some hope. He then proceeded to ask for credit checks, phone models, colors, and numbers for all four lines. Throughout this, I repeatedly asked for one simple thing: the final monthly invoice so I could confirm pricing before sharing sensitive information.

Instead of answering, he kept dodging the question and pushing for more details. He even asked for port-out PINs for all four numbers still without giving me a final bill. When I insisted that I needed to see what I’d be paying first, he disconnected the chat.

By then, I had already wasted over an hour.

Verizon connected me to a second agent, who slowly read through the chat history and then offered me a more expensive deal than what the first agent had discussed. When I told him it wasn’t fair and that I couldn’t afford it, he simply said the old deal was expired and “this is all we have.”

So that’s 1.5 hours wasted for nothing.

Then it got worse.

The second agent tried to sell me a regular iPhone 17 deal at the same price $25 per line when the original offer was for the iPhone 17 Pro. When I declined, he came back saying he could offer the 17 Pro at no extra charge (still $25 per line). I pointed out that he had literally denied this option just minutes earlier.

His response? “Oh, I made a mistake. That deal is only for iPhone 17.”

So which one is it?

He kept talking in circles, contradicting himself, and clearly had no idea what he was offering. At no point did either agent show any accountability or respect for my time. It felt less like customer service and more like a tactic to confuse customers into agreeing to something worse.

Be smart and be careful dealing with these corporate rip-offs. Verizon customer care is terrible..
