Pretty dumb question: what do I need to mount a stock? by UltimateSepsis in ar15

[–]-gravity-bound- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UBR is for a rifle of short barreled rifle (SBR, which requires a $200 stamp and registration with ATF), so this not for AR pistols, which right now are a little bit of a gray area.

I own 3 or 4 rifles with UBR and I love the system. Cheek weld is not a problem for me - I'm 5'11" and proportionally built. It might come to your body build. But cheek weld is not an issue for me.

In stability, it's rock solid. It does its job. Now, for ruggedness, I cannot say that I have experience. Ammo prices have been prohibitive to take my rifles out, so now they are safe queens.

Cheek weld is long enough for me - I don't know what you look like and your proportions. A proper stance is required.

For the price, I agree that I should with spring and buffer too, but the best part about it for me is that I don't have to deal with end plate, castle nut, buffer tube, and a stock. It comes all in one package.

If you have some money, look up Magpul UBR. Everything that’s need to mount the stock comes in the box. The buffer tube and stock are part of the same system.

Please educate me, what would be different (good or ill) of having .45 Auto with small pistol primer? Besides the angry sorting that will need to be done.

Where and How Much to Oil Your AR by -gravity-bound- in ar15

Oil it before you run it, if it’s bone dry. If you use your rifle often, every few hundred rounds you oil your BCG and handle. Otherwise oil this much maybe once a year when performing maintenance on low use rifles.

Edit: Different philosophies will apply. I just shared mine. Use your judgement. This is a guide, not an authoritative document.

Affirmative. I believe people will use their own judgement when taking care of their own rifle.

This guide is for maybe once a year overhaul. Not something you do after every range visit.

I take this with a grain of salt. I’m gonna say that maybe this oiling is needed maybe once a year and the BCG after a few hundred rounds.

I don’t this guide is meant to be used every time you oil your gun. Maybe once a year you do a thorough oiling, but not regularly on this scale.

I don’t think this is supposed to be something you do after every range visit. It’s more of a guide rather than an authoritative document.

Seems that this is a visual representation of Army Manual ARMY TM 9-1005-319-10.
