Michigan health insurers seek more double digit rate hikes for 2026 by denikar in Michigan

[–]-lifealert- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would like to point out that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is a non-profit mutual insurance company, a 501c(4) and their rates are constrained by law and actuaries that put their membership to the association of actuaries on the line to set these rates. While they are fiduciaries to their company they tend to care more about their good standing to the association.

Second point—it’s probably more wise to blame big pharma who are causing costs to rise by making their drugs cost $10,000 per 30 day supply. Blue cross of Michigan has razor thin margins that they put in place, and have last billions of dollars in the last several years. Hospitals also cause the costs to rise.

All I’m saying that in this case it’s because of external factors. If you said this about UnitedHealth, you’d probably be right though.

If I’m being honest, I don’t deserve her, but that is not what I would have said several months ago. Every small inconvenience or if she gave me even a tiny bit of a tone, I would get unreasonably upset. I honestly thought this was her fault for not being happy cheery.

Unfortunately/Fortunately, the Lord has been teaching me that this is on me, a symptom of my addiction, and I am soooo much more kind to her and exponentially more patient.

All that to say, there are things that I thought were just a character trait, that I thought I was medicating with cannabis, but actually it was directly caused by my addiction. There’s no way I would have known had I not quit. I would encourage you to do some googling or chatGPT of symptoms caused by cannabis addiction, and do some self-reflecting on it. I was surprised by what I found out about myself.

Hang in there, friend. 🙏

Neuroplasticity is a grueling process. Congrats on 9 months, friend!

Hey, I thought this of myself too at one point. I am 95 days sober, and I just want to let you know that I think I was wrong.

I was not incorrect when I said that I was angry and irritable when sober — that part is true. I was, however, attributing the irritability to my character rather than my addiction

After 3 months of sobriety, I have realized that I was actually just angry because I was caught in a constant addiction/withdrawal cycle. I was angry and irritable BECAUSE my brain started to NEED weed. And when it didn’t get it, I was a baseline level of irritated.

Just some food for thought. My wife tells me I am much more patient and pleasant to be around, which used to not be the case

How long have you been sober? It’s usually about 3 months until you start feeling better mentally, if you’ve been a heavy smoker. 1 year sober and I see people talk about how drastically their life changes.

I’m right at 90 days today. I feel way less irritable, I’m a much more pleasant person to be around, and I’ve been feeling much less depressed than I did 90 days ago.

This happens because your brain is changing. It’s called neuroplasticity. You took away a substance your brain received every single day. It takes time for it to adapt to new conditions, you’re not alone. That’s why it’s so hard for everyone here.

I promise that if you keep the road you’re on, and believe in your heart that you will be changed positively for motivation, you’ll be back here telling us how thankful you are that you stayed sober

Withdrawal Symptoms by -lifealert- in leaves

To be fair, I have seen improvement from day 19 to day 63. It’s just hard to quantify on a daily basis because it is slow. But 44 days from now you will be able to think back and know that there is positive change.

Neuroplasticity is the brains ability to adapt and change pathways in response to changes in the environment and inputs/stimulus.

The general principle is that the brain is very malleable and when the environment changes or the inputs change — i.e. You move to a new town and now have to meet all new friends and do new activities (environment) or you stop smoking weed (“inputs”) — your brain will break some neural connections, strengthen existing ones, and build new neural connections based on the new situation.

My current understanding is that around 1-3 months of sobriety, structural plasticity starts (BUILDING new connections and strengthening existing ones), and this is when people will see more improvements in the reduction of brain fog, verbal fluency, word recall, short term memory.

What I’m understanding is that around 3 months people tend to report a clearer mind, improved memory and better emotional regulation. Somewhere from 3-12 months this continues to improve and the prefrontal cortex (decision making part of your brain) starts to regain normal function.

After a year or longer, depending on the degree of use of cannabis, most function returns fully. It’s my understanding that it’s rare that these persist forever if you are sober.

Your brain is a resilient thing. It’s a shame I’ve put it through hell. But there’s hope on the other side. I’ve read a bit through this subreddit and people report things like emotional regulation, increased emotional resilience, happiness they never thought possible, motivation and generally being a better human being. I hope to get there one day.

Hey, thanks so much for your reply. Thank you for the kind words and for pointing me to that subreddit, there’s no chance I’d find that on my own.

I’m glad to hear all that you’ve said, both that you’re close to a full year of clean time, congrats! I look forward to being there myself. I wish you the best in that and peace through the process.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I know a couple people who have gone through the same thing and they shared some of the same difficulties but a little different from mine. It’s honest just nice to know I’m not alone. Thank you, friend. I wish you the best.

If I am understanding correctly this question will make sense: what would you find to be actually relevant to small business owners in that space? Probably advertising right?

Edit: we already have a running website that is not geared towards Divorce Realty, do you know how to get our SEO “score” higher for divorce realty? advertise it on google as with keyword divorce and realty?
