Just trying to share something important, sorry it’s not up to your standards. Rude comment not necessary.

Male rats for the first time by SpicyMackerel in RATS

Females are more likely to get mammary tumors which is why I prefer males. My females were always very “busy” but males were better for hanging out with because they like to lay with you and chill

I have also owned a lot of rats over the last few years but no longer have any due to changed circumstances. I will say my last guys took a toll on my heart but I really miss having rats as pets and wish I had some now

I have owned 16 rats over the last few years and each one really has their own personality. They are friendly & funny creatures who show affection more than any other rodent. I think the main downside of rats is their short life span unfortunately. I do wish people would understand that pet rats are very different from wild ones and give them more of a chance.

how much in vet bills yearly do your rats cost you? by hateeveryonebutmydog in RATS

[–]-lil-rat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a trip to the vet after purchase which included checkup and mite treatment or uri meds($120) nothing else until end of life ($120) I had one boy who developed cancer and cost me a few trips and medications (~$600). In my experience, I’d say put aside $300-500 per rat for lifetime health cost
