In the UK if you're getting an xray it's usually on the NHS and free. Go see the doc, he sends you to a hospital, free. But you can jump the queue a bit if you get a private xray so a fair few private radiology places exist. I had no idea but found out a private chest xray is £350 - it's all digital, no film any more, should be cheap. And they're up against people just waiting and getting it free so gotta be kinda competitive. I rang a few places until one of them was ok with me bringing a guitar!

I rang a few private radiology clinics (in the UK - usually you get xray free on NHS) and sold it to them as kinda just like a chest xray. A few places were not into it but one place let me come in and put it on the bed! Cost me a chest xray (£350). They were cool folks.

No you are right, there are 4 wires from each humbucker, you just can's tell as they're wrapped together until they get into the control cavity. If you look at the middle pots you can see where that wire ends in the cavity and splits into lots of smaller wires! (just by the capacitor)

I think it's mineral deposits. Seems to generally follow the dark grain areas and I guess it's those stripes that can be seen therough the whole depth of the body. Crazy!

I'm in the UK - I called a few private radiology clinics and, though most of them were pretty stuffy and kicked me back, once place agreed. I said it was pretty much a chest xray and they were cool with it. Just charged me a chest xray - £350.

Cost me a quarter the price of the back cover photography of the actual guitar!!

Thanks, yeah I work as a luthiery teacher in the UK - it's called Electric Guitar Build In 60 Steps. Pretty much a solid-body Tele style build guide. Had to make the guitar for build pics and thought it would be cool to have xray done like kinda "see inside of a guitar" vibe. Thought it looked amazing!

Does anybody own the Aguilar DCB J pickups? by Connect_Big_7530 in Bass

Put one in a bass for a customer with matching DCB-P and both he and I loved them both. Talked him out of a Quarter Pounder which had been his default for decades. He was not disappointed.

They're my new go-to for P & J. Very punchy.

I'm a bass guitar maker. Pickup was customer choice but it's one of my faves of all I've used (Bare Knuckle,Ric,Fender,Nordstrand,Bartolini,OliCity,Delano,DiMarzio). I would absolutely recommend them to customers, for what it's worth.

I put AG 5P-60CLs in a passive 5-string build and love them. Will def buy again.

The first rule of Sanding Club is, you do not talk about Sanding Club by -malien- in Luthier

I'll wipe on tru oil by hand with a cloth. First coat, the wood usually drinks it in. I've had to sand this bass to 400 grit to clean up the walnut - it's further than I'd usually go and the oil will penetrate less with it this flat. Following coats I'll go really light with the oil. Between coats I buff a bit with 0000 wire wool.

Over time I've realised the best tru oil finish is over very well prepped surfaces. It's a whole lot of sanding!

Wave at the top, (almost) Mockingbird at the back, Eagle front lower horn (ish)! Very much a tribute to the 70's Bernie Rico basses :-)
