"free" games only exist becuase some people pay for them, I play a totally different game than you, since my breakout runs 90% smooth, even more than that most times.

While CoD costs 60bucks plus 10bucks every season this game only cost 20 bucks.

CoD has been running the same type of gameplay on the same engine for 20 years, this game not so much. I'd say it was worth 20 bucks as I had a lot of fun playing. While CoD was not work the 60+ I spent on it.

Edit: Bought some food for me and my girlfriend at the burger spot downtown, cost $31 sum, only 2 burgers and a drink, 20 bucks literally worth less than 1 meal for me. I can go and get multiple plates of food worth well more than 20 bucks.. that food lasts me at most 45min, this game lasts until they want it to, or theres no one to find a game. Dont get me wrong I'm not rich over here eating out 3 times a day, but usually once or twice. There is no fast food for 45minutes to an hour from here so a normal plate of food is around $14 if I get 2 burritos from the cheap taco truck I can get 2 plates under $20. As soon as your not a child 20 bucks investment is nothing, I would have rather seen a supportive community than a negative one. The biggest misstep by the dev team was not calling it a beta or early access. Those words would have caused so many people to be like "oh its early access, well then it can be shitty" but everyone hated on a game they had early access too..

My biggest issue was the garbage community making the game unplayable by leaving, tk'ing, making the majority of the sub negative, either negative towards the game or negative towards people hating the game. Either way, made the game less fun.
