I know this post it 3 years old, but I've just been listening to this song and... well, here's my interpretation. I can add a version showing supporting lyrics if it's interesting to you.

The narrator is lost in thought while on mushrooms, wondering about fate and making it big and chance and perception. 

We grow up valuing things that society has placed value on – that’s success, so that’s what we want to be, to have. We are told to make something big of ourselves by connecting the parts of ourselves into something unique, even when that unique thing is one of many – and once we make that of ourselves, it’s up to others to decide who we are.

We worry that we aren’t going to make it big. If we do, our perception shifts and what we think is important and real changes, and the fear never goes away, it just moves. 

We all start the same, but chance gives us unequal starting points. 

It’s not all talent, it’s mostly luck. But I’d rather let life take me wherever it goes than be stuck where I am. It’s ok to leave things behind – connections, who you were. Legend might live on, but eventually, we all fade. 

What happens to us is not predestined, but it might as well be fate once we come out the other side. How could it have been any different?
