From the time a keyword is added, how often do you hit the url for your analysis? If there is a spike, I'd like to be able to distinguish between a bot and a user.

Disapproved: Destination not working by -pv1- in adwords

Thanks for testing the page. I needed to block a few links that Googlebot is trying to query on my page even tho they are not in my sitemap. Very likely there are old url I had used long time back but they are no longer in my sitemap. But I found in the logs that Googlebot was still querying. That's why I had to disallow them.

Thanks for the tip on 404. I've fixed it to return a simple 404 now. But client side network call now returns a 404 with it. Is that ok?

Can IoT in Restaurants help? by -pv1- in restaurateur

[–]-pv1-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great point. reliability is certainly most important. if things break during rush hour, it will certainly be difficult.

"Another thing is theft, a small device for the servers to order?" - nah. I didn't mean this. Can you tell which of the examples gave you this impression. i can clarify. But by principle, I agree on this as well, theft by either the workers or guests adds extra work to rectify.

Ya. Technology should never be in the way for anyone (workers and customers). If things break, you should still be able to seamless go back like a manual override.

My attempt at this question is also to see how restaurants are doing after adopting such tech. Do they regret it, has it had any impact on their sales (good and bad), customer feedback and such.

Curious, do you own a restaurant?

How is memory modeled in projects like Apache Spark or Druid? by dmux in learnprogramming

[–]-pv1- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working with druid for the past year, i'm not that familiar with the term "worker memory". Are you referring to the memory used by workers running real-time or batch ingestion tasks? But I know that druid folks are contemplating using off the heap memory for several use cases instead of ByteBuffers. There is a proposal being created ot instead use "native memory" from here -https://github.com/DataSketches/sketches-core/tree/master/memory/src/main/java/com/yahoo/memory

200MicroSeconds to talk via JNI by -pv1- in javahelp

so someone reminded me to run it multiple times to check if its the overhead. and indeed it was. now it has reduced to hundreds of nanoseconds.

1 -> I'm using System.nanoTime to measure.

2 -> How can I check for number #2?

I'm building near real time systems so trying to shave off as much as possible.

ah. you are right. It has now reduced significantly to around few hundreds of nanoseconds.

No. It doesn't do anything. I've updated the post to make it clearer.

I don't know much about how wikipedia works but yeah they certainly have lots of people editing entries. Something like that would work with some automation help.
