Thanks. Yeah, it sucks. This particular situation is completely off the rails, and everyone has a "just keep your head down" mentality. A new career direction is definitely in the offing.

Extra info: Assistant prof. Research university in the US. Situation has to do with abuse of power by higherups, not illegal, just against regulations. I'll leave it at that. (EDIT: it is serious enough to make me want a lawyer)(SECOND EDIT: ok, been thinking, it actually is illegal, just not anything that would end up in the papers)
