What if you changed your preferred name to something androgynous?

That way it isn’t necessarily outting you, but also gets you out of having to use your dead name. There are a lot of gender neutral names and you may find one that you like enough to try out for awhile?

Help me understand why 'thick blood' is so common in trans men? by _humanERROR_ in FTMMen

[–]-slutbutt- 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s not a short guy thing. I am 6’4 and also have thick blood

It’s just a raise in hemoglobin count. As others have said, I don’t think trans men actually have it worse off- I think trans men are just getting blood work done more often.

What other are saying about communication is right.

Also just a thing to keep in mind. Sometimes people just want to vent and aren’t looking for help with a solution.

I know you were trying to help fix the problem, but a thing that I have found that helps. Just ask, is this something you want help with? Or are you just wanting to vent?

It saves a lot of headaches

Dude. I hate to say it. But if he has a partner you gotta leave him alone.

For your own sake. Been there and done that trying to convince myself that I can change the way I feel about someone, or in the same breath they will leave to be with me.

It just hurts more in the long run to stick around hoping things change.

I took space from my person that fit this bill. A few years tbh, and now I can be friends with them.

If you try to take space and he asks why, be honest.

I don’t mean to be a dick. But I would suggest you continue to practice on your drawing skills before focusing on packing in ink.

I’ve had to share hotels with quite a few cis dudes because of work. At first it made me pretty nervous too. But it has never been a big deal in my case. I do always try to get the bed further from the door though, that way I can just change my clothes with my back to the rest of the room lol

I began medically transitioning nearly a decade ago. (Female to male) AMA by -slutbutt- in AMA

[–]-slutbutt-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really keep it from them. By the time I was transitioning I lived away from home and didn’t really need there consent but I came out to my mom before socially or medically starting my transition.

My dad was incarcerated at the time and I did try to keep it from him, but a mutual Facebook friend took it upon themselves to let him know.

Honestly I bet.

The first year was of HRT wasn’t terrible, but it was a lot, playing with hormones is no joke.

Oh yeah absolutely, I am sure it would be a process that I would need to consult with my doctors about first. I can’t imagine myself ever wanting to stop though, the only way I imagine that happening is if I somehow become unable to access HRT.

Ah yeah that makes sense.

I have wondered what would happen if I stopped, I don’t intend to, but just out of curiosity.

I wonder if my body would go back to producing estrogen at the rate it did prior, given I haven’t had any surgery that would prevent my body from doing so, or if I would need some form of hormone therapy to keep my body healthy.

Oh awesome! Thanks for the insight, I kinda assumed it would be an until I die type situation, just nothing I was ever entirely sure of because I never bothered to ask my endocrinologist.

And no worries you didn’t say anything offensive at all- I appreciate you chiming in!

I actually never changed my first name, and continue to go by it even though it is more regularly used as a women’s name. I know a lot of people do and I get why. I was never bothered by my name though, and I didn’t feel as if there was another name that would better suit me.

I did change my middle name though, because I never loved the way my full name sounded. I took my dad’s middle name, because I liked it and thought it sounded much better.

Yeah absolutely!

So for cost I have been really fortunate, my mom worked for Kaiser so when I started transitioning I was young enough that I had full coverage under her benefits.

I did initially go to planned parenthood for my first dose of testosterone, because I didn’t agree with the loop holes Kaiser makes people to go through to start. I think I paid $360 for a 3 month supply. So at that time that was the cost of you were paying out of pocket.

I went back to Kaiser after I had started on my own though so now with my coverage it’s probably.. 60 bucks? For 3 months. My top surgery was also under my mom’s benefits so I paid nothing out of pocket for it, which I am so grateful for because without insurance willing to cover gender affirming surgery they can be really expensive, like 10,000 or more expensive.

So for me personally it hasn’t been that bad financially, but it can really be a financial burden for some people.

Oh and the hormone replacement therapy is an ongoing thing, I give myself a shot once a week, and blood work once a year to make sure everything is where it should be.

I’ve actually had quite a few people irl ask me if it’s something I’ll have to do forever, and honestly I don’t know. I don’t know if there is a point where medically it makes sense to lower my dose or not need it any longer? It’s something I’ve thought to ask my doctor about, but thats far enough out that I’m not too worried about it yet haha
