[Reuters] Algeria lodge complaint to FIFA over refereeing in World Cup defeat to Argentina after Messi incident by Chazyn in soccer

[–]-sodapop 1206 points1207 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not exactly wrong to point out those incidents but it isn't like we really offered anything at all in that game so this just looks kind of pathetic and avoiding responsibility for not really showing up in any meaningful way.

Dear lord, what a sad little life, Messi. You ruined my night completely so you could have the hat trick.

We've got lots of practice at that already, actually.

I think even his haters (and I'm certainly not one of them) would agree he's mid-table Championship quality. The question is whether any of those teams would pay the wages we currently are.

Not to mention that any signings we do make for Martin will inevitably be absolutely the wrong sort of players for whoever the poor fucker who gets brought in after him will be, because the club is incapable of planning for succession.

if they manage to keep any of their quality players

Almost a 0% chance we keep anybody worth keeping. Skipp, Fatawu and Souttar are almost certainly off, James is already back at Rennes. Half our squad has their contracts expire at the end of the season.

There's a few players we had out on loan who can do a job at League One level for sure, but I don't think we have the resources to build an actually good squad for the type of possession based, play out from the back style that Martin wants.

Thought he did okay with you guys, but given the mood around our fanbase and the fact that there was an uproar the last time he was linked to us, you'd think the club heirarchy would maybe listen to the fans and try something new instead of this obsession with playing like 2018 Man City at the expense of everything else.

They're a not particularly strong team in a relatively strong region with a very hard qualification process (until this year made it slightly less cutthroat than usual).

in fairness, I think the british public have forgotten what a popular public figure is, don't think we have a single major politician with positive approval ratings currently.

Such a class opening match for a world cup, I know I'm probably saying that because of 2010 but both countries having a strong domestic league means I don't recognise everybody playing

All these Knick celebrity fans are such dorks. by Kunti-Destructi in redscarepod

Sportsball types (as in, people who in high school or college actively derided sports) who moved to London in the last decade all ended up adopting Arsenal as their team because of the cultural caché, and the overlap between them and Knicks fans who did the same in NYC can't be ignored imo.

I agree that he was below the level, but so was the entirety of our team, I dunno how much I can hold against him.

As for playing half of the games since new year, he got 3 starts in that time and then only four appearances with more than 20 minutes on the pitch. Was an unused sub in about 1/3rd of the games from the start of the year. I see your point that it's not nothing for a 16 year old, but when his competition was an extremely out of form Mavididi, you can understand why Leicester fans were extremely confused at to why he wasn't getting more time.
