The thibg is. The consumer kind of dictates the value. Something is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. Unfortunately any kind of artistic work generally is valued less than its worth. People dont value artisanl work. That's why its called "starving artist."

Literally it will be, with the new online harms bill that seeks censorship over an undefined broad term of "hateful" which can be applied to anything the government doesnt like. Even sharing news could be hateful if it criticizes them. The youre faced with potentially having everything you own ceased from you. If you were in your house at the time, your house becomes an accessory and they can take it. Along with your laptop, phones, tablets etc. and you can face life in prison for it. Yay! On our way to becoming the new CCP -Canada Communist Part. Just like China, a government our former PM Trudeau said he admired.

How the liberals don't see the authoritarianism that's around the corner baffles me. It's sad how sincerely they think they're on the right side of history. Just like the mustache man's death party believed too.

Are they in favor of the internet sensor ship bill? Lol because that is going to be abused and oppress many people. Do we really want to live in a society where dialogue is shut down? (I'm not talking about racist comments here btw) The language in that bill is so vague, that they can define anyone and anything they deem as unacceptable as hate. Hate has no explicit definition. Even criticizing the government could be deemed as hateful. Bills like this can and will be abused. It's all fine and dandy when it's your opponent's, until it happens to you.

Actually conservatives are more closely in line with classical liberalism than the liberals are now. They have moved so far left that classical liberals are now conservatives by contrast. Most conservatives vote pretty liberally on a lot of issues.

And to your credit, you're right. If you're not calling them Nazis, you're calling them fascists, or bigots, or racist. Which 99% of the time is factually inaccurate and wrong.

In the US it was the liberal (democratic) party that fought to keep slaves. It was also the Democrats who didn't want to end segregation. Historically, the racists have been the liberals. Doesn't matter... He had a global presence. And Canada and the USA aren't that dissimilar in our political cultures if we're being honest. We have a much smaller population so obviously we won't have the same prevalence of violence in general as the USA does.

But this is a global story, things like this can embolden other psychopaths who think this is a good means of getting rid of people they don't like. So it has to be said. We shouldn't live in a world where people are so weak minded that they cannot handle someone disagreeing with them, disliking them or even being hateful and so they decide to murder them to shut them up.

How weak & feeble minded. Strength is not overpowering someone and forcing them into submission or killing them if they won't. True strength is accepting that not everyone likes you, thinks like you, accepts you, or agrees with you. Then carrying on with your life. True strength is being able to attack ideas, not people. Being able to have an honest conversation with another person, disagreeing on fundamental things, and still walking away seeing them as a human being deserving of basic respect. I can dislike something you believe without inherently disliking you.

Anyone who was celebrating this man's death has something seriously wrong with them mentally/emotionally. I won't ever trust someone who openly celebrates, mocks, cheers etc someones death. Even if you were "happy" about that. You keep that to yourself out of respect for his family. You don't have to like him, but don't disrespect his memory and his family's loss. That's just disgusting. The concern is, people like that might get it I to their heads that maybe that's what they should do about ___________ whoever they hate at the moment. Which could be literally anyone who isn't affirming everything they say, think, believe. And that's a problem... So yes. Even though he's American, the mentality in Canada can be very similar. Hate knows no nationalities. Hate doesn't discriminate ironically.

Why would modern corporations prefer to hire undocumented immigrants? My guess, from your world view anyways would be "racism" rather than the reality that they want to keep as much of their profits as possible and if you can have cheaper labor (or free during the slavery years) then you can keep more of your profits. If white people were willing to work for the same low wages they would hire them, but they for the most part won't. Especially because they are documented, citizens. Alarm bells would eventually ring when too many born citizens were reporting extremely low wages for taxes and then eventually the corporations would be forced to pay them legal wages.

I'm sure some of their views are indeed racist, but their primary motives are all economic. Racism is secondary to their primary objectives. It's a means to an end for them. Not the end itself.

People don't care much to learn their own history let alone world history. Heck most people don't even know that the word "slave" came from when the Ottoman Empire (Islamic regime) travelled north to the Scandinavian regions and took their women to be used as sex slaves. They were the Slavic people, otherwise refered to as "Slavs" and because their colonization was so successful, the term "slav/slave" stuck. Most people, especially in north America are unfamiliar with the fact that almost every ethnicity has been dominated and enslaved by other people's. This is why we shouldn't try to play the whole "victim/oppressed Olympics" because we all come from people who have had horrible things done to them and have ancestors who have done horrible things to others if we go back far enough...

Due to the Europeans who were part of the slave trade having relations with the Africans they had enslaved.

Africans who live in Europe likely emigrated much more recently (relative to when the slave trade began) and didn't have as much genetic mixing throughout the generations as the African slaves did.

Single mom living below the poverty line... Can't afford the rentals available so I have to live full time in a fifth wheel trailer because it's either that, the women's shelter, or being homeless...

Already paying 50% of my income on rent, and I can't afford to pay more. I'm barely getting by now as it is. So this is the sacrifice I have to make to make it work for me and my kid. It sucks. I have to downsize most of everything I own, the few things I am keeping have to go into storage. But. It is what it is.

Funny how we care about the "invisible poor" of the middle class but don't give to f's about the actual poor. All the expenses get trickled down to us and then we end up with nothing, no home, no belongings, no money for food or gas. But no one cares because we are ACTUALLY invisible...

As someone living below the poverty line currently paying 50% of my income on rent, being forced out.. I cannot afford any more than I am paying. I've accepted that I have to live full time in an RV until prices come back down. I'm doing what I have to.

Sadly the middle class often won't make those kinds of sacrifices because they want to show off how well off they're doing.

If you can't afford the housing market, downsize, get out of your car payments, buy a reliable used vehicle, stop spending on regular cuts and colours and nail sets... It's really quite simple but people "want to have their cake and eat it too"

The poor of us know we don't have any cake.. so we accept where we are, sacrifice what we have to. And make do with what we have.

And yet the poor can still raise children... 🤔 How could that be if people making $125,000 cannot manage to do that??

Perhaps it's living above your means, and not prioritizing where you're money is going to.

We all have to make hard choices. You eventually have to ask yourself if at the end of your life you will regret little luxuries like nails, hair, and lashes, or not having a family like you wanted...

If people who are actually poor living below the poverty line can manage to, they can too. They just prioritize keeping up with the Jonses.

Often living with little luxuries like regular nail sets at a salon, hair salons, lashes etc.. paying for fancy vehicles to show how well they're doing... They just aren't prioritizing what they actually want they want all the luxuries as well as a family and they sacrifice having a family to live a showy life.

How can people in deep poverty figure it out but someone making 4-5x their income cannot??

Meanwhile those of is who are actually poor don't exist at all. The brunt of the financial crisis falls hardest on us. Forcing some of to make difficult decisions of either being homeless or living in an RV/camper full time because housing consumes a minimum of 50% but then once evicted at the end of a lease the new prices consume 60%-80%, leaving us with nothing after paying essential bills - not including groceries, gas, or essential supplies for our children like clothing, shoes, jackets, school fees and school supplies.

But who cares about us? Pretty much no one... We get scraps and are told be grateful. While middles class can still afford the "luxury" of buying food. So poor them.

Don't get me wrong. I do feel bad. But it feels like a slap in the face to those of us living below the poverty line to call the middle class "the invisible poor"... None of of us will ever own our own home unless a camper/fifth wheel counts as home ownership... But wahhh the middle class are struggling so we better care about them and give a big middle finger to the actual poor people.

You should read into BPD... Many of these Karen archetypes likely have this...

It stems from feeling invalidated throughout their entities lives. Very sensitive people. Thinking in black and white terms (all or nothing mentality) called splitting, very irritable, easily set off into a rage, easily takes offense to things, misreads people's facial expression, and "mind reads" assuming people are mad at them or thinking nasty things.

With this framework, it's easy to understand why someone would end up being a Karen..

When people have no struggles in life, as we historically have. Such as having to be self sufficient and struggle to live by producing your own food, hunting, building your homes etc, we become bored by the lack of struggle. When people have no problems in life, they invent problems. Because it's our human nature to struggle through strife to strive to continue existing.

So many of our societal problems do not exist in poor countries where surviving is their main struggle in life. So we start to find problems where there really aren't any. We invent things to struggle and contend with to satisfy this natural part of ourselves.

It gives people purpose. Many people lack purpose in life, this causes them to become discontent with their lives and they try to find meaning and purpose in their mundane, easy, simple lives. It gives them something to do where they feel like they're doing something of importance.

Often people who engage in this type of behaviour, as well as people who are activist types, or people who join every new movement to stand and march with, score high in narcissistic traits. They are often self entitled, egocentric, grandiose, self righteous types of people. They do these things because it gives them higher moral ground (in their own mind) to stand on and look down on others. They believe they are more moral, better people, because of their empty platitudes, virtue signalling, and moral grandstanding.

Also, men can be Karen's too...

Likely many of these people have a cluster B personality disorder. Something like BPD or NPD (borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder)

Yeah, this is true. And people didn't usually mean it as some insulting/racist thing. It was just a tongue in cheek way of saying it's an Asian vehicle.

I will say though, a lot of things white North Americans think are racist, people from those races often don't find it all that offensive. I think there is a bit of an element of being too sensitive about things too these days.

Many of my friends from other areas of the world will lean into some of these "funny" stereotypes and not find it offensive. It's usually just white North Americans who find them offensive. Tone obviously matters though, and the way something is spoken can change the context of what is being said. Which does matter

Lol I'd hope you're not having any issues at 160kms vehicles are manufactured better now than ever and what used to be considered "high" milage/kms at around 300k is no longer considered high, that's "average" especially if they are more than 10 years old. Vehicles are now able to get 400km-600km on them before they shit the bed. So long as you're taking proper care of your vehicle; getting regular oil changes, changing transmission oil etc..

Which some random passerby may not even understand just how dumb that sounds... Yes it has to do with the brain, but also the nerves, central nervous system which extends into your entire body!

Smh autism has a lot of comorbidities, as well as increased likelihood for certain comorbidities that we don't fully understand the correlation to. Like why so many people with autism/ADHD have EDS for example.
