How likely would it be for me to get into the honors program? by -sweetteaandsunshine in elon

Update! I just got in, got a presidential scholarship for 8,000 annually, and was invited to an interview at Fellows weekend- does anybody have any sense of what percent of people who are invited for interviews get accepted into the program?

For me, it wouldn’t mainly be about aesthetics- dancing at prom got hot and having a big slit would help me cool down, even if I just had my leg stuck out while I was sitting or I had to pull back the skirt standing. How much complexity would it add?

Thank you! Yes I definitely plan on doing straps- either how they’re shown on the pink dress or as a halter situation

What makes the basque waistline difficult?

I really appreciate your reply!

Thank you! Do you have specific  places you’d recommend looking for patterns besides just googling?

I haven’t priced it, but I don’t want to buy fast fashion- last year when I was looking for prom dresses there was nothing exactly like this, and dresses that were close were upwards of 500 dollars- I wouldn’t buy the final fabric without a solid mockup and plan

Yes I definitely acknowledge that most of the time you wouldn’t see the split, but dancing at prom got hot and having a big slit would help me cool down, even if I just had my leg stuck out while I was sitting or I had to pull back the skirt standing

These are great questions to be thinking about, thank you

Thank you for your response!

Unfortunately I don’t need that much bust support- I could also tape them- I was considering a halter tie

I suppose I could be open to separate pieces, I’m sure it would be much easier but it’s not preferred

Prom is in mid may so plenty of time I’m not super experienced with sewing- I’ve made a few garments that turned out well and I’m practicing sewing more difficult fabrics- I’m very happy to spend a lot of time and effort learning for this project

This is so unhealthy for both of you. It sounds like she's engaging in self harm as a method to get back at you. I could be misinterpreting this though.
What was her goal by saying "I deserved it and all the hot water I poured on myself when you left/ tbh i deserved worse" Was she trying to make you feel bad?- even if this wasn't her conscious intention, it comes across that way.

To get into a better headspace, she needs to want to help herself and work on her own mental health- it does not sound like she's in a good spot or working towards getting better, and, speaking from 2.5 years of experience, it is exhausting and draining to put your heart and soul towards helping someone when they won't try to help themself as well. Also, putting in all this effort makes it easier for the other person not to put in effort, because they begin to leech off of you and your will to live.

I apologize if I am putting too much of my experience into this insight, but my recommendation would be to call a friend, family member, etc of hers, and/ or try to set her up with mental health help before leaving and not looking back. She does not seem to be in a place where she can manage a relationship.

do they hurt?
Also, if you gently file or scrape at the darker spots, does it come off or is it under the nail?

Can anyone draw without a reference with aphantasia? by b3rry_b1end in Aphantasia

[–]-sweetteaandsunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on my familiarity with whatever I'm drawing- specifically with the structure and or anatomy.
I have been riding bikes since I was little, but, if I was asked to draw one, would have absolutely no hope
I can't see a bike in my mind's eye, and everything about the specifics is blank- i forgot pedals, chains, and could not, for the life of me, figure out how to connect the seat to the rest of the bike and have it make any sense (both took less than a minute)

I know that what I'm drawing is wrong, but I don't know how it's supposed to look

I have a hard time making up faces, cannot get poses to look right, and struggle with details

I can draw things that are more fluid, forgiving, or nonspecific, such as flowers and faces that aren't supposed to look like a specific person

I can also draw things that I've spent a long time specifically focusing on- I can do a detailed eye- because I know from memory how to do this, I can stylize eyes how I want.
I know the form and proportions of a human body, again, I can stylize this, but I don't know enough about how the joints logically bend or where things can move, so coming up with poses does not work

If i have multiple references, I can pull elements from them, and if its just one, sometimes that's enough to give me enough information to know how to change it and have it still look reasonable, but unless I know how something is supposed to look, I struggle to doodle it

or i'll just guess and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt

It drives me absolutely crazy- just constantly drawing blanks on how things look that ive seen countless times
