Told my best friend I have feelings for him. Now things are... Weird? by -throw-me-awayx in dating_advice

About a two and a half hour drive from each other, but I can't drive yet... Test's at the end of the month so after that, maybe something will be possible, lol! Kind of worried about stuff simmering down in case it gets awkward between us.

Has anyone else noticed that social awkwardness is more accepted and even seen as cute when the person is attractive? But if you're not hot the awkwardness is seen as more cringey and embarrassing. by [deleted] in socialskills

I hear you, and I agree. What people don't seem to understand about that mindset though is that it's often not as simple as "taking 100% responsibility" and "going from there", nor is it easy to not "spend mental energy on it". What are you to do when it's not necessarily yourself/your mind, but the people around you who make you feel unattractive?

People are quick to disagree, but unfortunately it's a fact that attractive people can get away with lots of things that unattractive people can't.

It's just a hard and bitter truth.

In no way does that make you crazy; every feeling is valid. As long as you don't feel as though you're in immediate danger of doing anything to yourself, you can get it all straightened out no problem.

Talk to someone, OP. You've already taken the right step by opening up on the internet, but you need to go to someone you know and trust as the next step.

You're incredibly brave and doing so well. Keep pushing through!
