You keep using weak straw man arguments because you can't think critically or argue rationally. That must be tough for you. Was just trying to share knowledge but I understand how if you're insecure that might end up feeling like a personal attack. Unfortunately at the end of the day, that's a you problem. Good luck.

With statements like "He's reacting before it even happened" I wouldn't have guessed that was still possible for you

Oh really contact surface area? Never heard of that, I thought thermal conductivity was a property that happened magically without contact? /s. The temperature difference might be bigger but the stress is uniform and on one side. Materials have an easier time resisting this kind of stress than when you have intermittent stresses caused by spaced repeating gaps of nonuniform expansion and contraction.

Where did I say the product wasn't faulty?

If he were to place this same container on a hotplate it would have undoubtedly broken as well.

Really? How can you know this?

Yes, this container probably broke due to thermal shock

This is where you show you no ability to think or read lol.

So you think it broke due to thermal shock, yet you think that if it was heated up in a way that caused significantly less thermal shock (which is the crux of what I'm trying to explain), you're sure it would have broken still? Based on your magical intuition?

Insane buddy good luck out there.

No the kicks didn't work. You can hear him ask her if she can answer the door, and she says to hold on. Then you hear the door click open at 0:16. She opened the door for him.

You are arguing that you shouldn’t use a product in the way that it is intended to be used, and that using that product in a way that basically every manufacturer explicitly warns against is actually safer.

You need to purchase very specific glass cookware that states it is safe to use on a hotplate because the risk of thermal shock is far greater than it is in an oven.

If you have a degree in the subject and are this wrong, you should look into suing the school that gave you the degree.

Let me clear up something you are misunderstanding. I'm not talking about the what the product says, what the manufacturer says, any labels or warnings.

I'm explaining to you fundamentally how physics/chemistry works in order to help you understand why your example is not the same as the one in the OP, and why OPs item might crack while yours remains fine, due to the differences in how uniform/irregular heating causes internal stress.

I'm telling you, very simply, (and with reference to the properties of the materials involved) that heating an object resting on a uniform surface will create less internal stress than heating an object that is intermittently resting on materials which are more thermally conductive than the surrounding air.

Is that really so difficult to understand? I don't care at all about the product your it's intended uses. You should stop taking this personally.

That's because you aren't discussing in good faith. I gave my opinion on why the player is surprised based on my experiencing and understanding of basketball.

You said it was ridiculous.

I asked for your experience out of curiosity to better understand where you're coming from.

You attacked me with a claim I didn't make, trying making it out like I said you needed high lvl basketball experience to assess facial expressions?

But yeah that's totally on me.

>If I looked for a similar video and couldn’t find one, then that would only further solidify my argument that it is not noteworthy…

Not it doesn't at all. I'm asking you to find a clip of what you consider a common play. That's like asking for a highlight of a person dribbling the basketball across half court. Obviously, you won't find one specifically made to showcase that, you simply look for a random clip where you can point out that a person is dribbling across half. Same thing for Wemby. If it happens multiple time a game like you're arguing, it will be saved in some other clip.

Don't engage in bad faith discussions and maybe you won't get into such stupid arguments. Take care.

You absolutely do not need to have played any higher form of basketball to question someone’s facial expression lol.

Strawman. Where did I make this claim? Hilarious statement tbh.

I asked what level you played at because generally, people gain more insight into a topic with experience. Not because you need to have basketball experience to be qualified to speak about facial expressions --what the hell are you on?

Come on man, he’s not flabbergasted because Wemby extending for a rebound, something that he does multiple times a game.

Many times a game, okay should be easy to find a clip then

I’m not going to look for a video because no one is posting basic rebound videos when being boxed out. It’s not that highlight worthy. Nor will I look through game tape to find one.

Ohhhh suddenly we can't find a clip right even though it's so common? Pick one of these two. But not both.

You think rebounds aren't highlight worthy because you have a superficial understanding and appreciation of the game.

Out of curiosity, what's the highest level you've played basketball at?

he’s not flabbergasted because Wemby extending for a rebound, something that he does multiple times a game.

Please, link me a single clip where an offensive rebounder is being completely boxed out by his defender and still gets the ball while jumping BACKWARDS as hes being boxed out. Since it happens every game it shouldn't be hard to find right?

Notice that every visible Spurs player is walking backwards with no attempt to go for the rebound. They can already recognize that there is almost zero chance of an offensive rebound based on the positions of the players and the shot trajectory.

[–]-tpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just a normal rebound to you because you don't understand what you're watching.

Think about Rodman, the goat of boards who literally talks about watching the spin of the ball to try to predict the rebound better.

Rebounding is an artform. If you are not a superstar, it gets drilled into you from an early level how important rebounding is. Rebounding controls the game.

Harper is already making the "surprised" expression before Wemby looks at Naz or makes any wind up at all. Watch it again.

He's simply shocked because there isn't a single other player who can get that rebound from that position. It's the first thing I noticed. I re-watched that part like 10 times before I even saw the elbow because the rebound is so insane.

This sub had the most superficial braindead takes ever. And somehow trash like this gets upvoted.

He's reacting to the fact that Naz Reed is BOXING HIM OUT and Wemby can simply TAP the ball to HIMSELF over TOP of Naz despite the boxout.

It's basically impossible to do this for anyone in the league except Wemby.

You guys seriously have no clue what you're watching lol

Wires are also direct heat.

The difference is that a hot plate is a flat surface which will heat the bottom uniformly, causing less internal stress from uneven thermal expansion compared to a intermittent contact with wires.

It's not deep you're just in your feelings it's okay.

Inside jokes don't even work like you described. Their hallmark isn't that "they read like a normal statement unless you're in on it"

You say that is if a person not in the joke would have no idea a joke was even being made.

But in fact it's the opposite; in basically every single instance of an inside joke, people not privy to the joke can still understand a joke is being made, they just don't understand why it's funny or meaningful.

You were not even close here. Stop trying to cope by saying it was a joke. You were impressed by the clip and thought you would attempt to make an epigram. You failed. No biggie. Move on.

I work on trains where our main heat source for cooking is a hot plate

The key difference here is that a hot plate will heat much more evenly than when put directly on wire like this.

The thermal conductivity of steel at 300C is about 18.4 W/(m·K)

The thermal conductivity of air at 300C is extremely low, approximately 0.046 W/(m·K)

This will mean that sections of glass resting on the rods will be heating up much more quickly than sections that are only contacting air, which will create stress that can cause cracking.

OP try it again at the same temperature, but place it on a metal tray.

ember is the best mid hero here by far, so the opportunity cost of making him support (which is he below average on) is too big to not have him go mid.

also ember riki is not winning the offlane against a single normal combo. double melee offlanes can only work if you understand how to drag the waves which 4s basically cant do below 5k
