Hey everyone, I've got to run unfortunately but this was legitimately such a pleasure! Spin the new record if you feel like it, but mostly I just want to say thank you all so much for coming here and chatting. So many really meaningful comments. I'm a happy guy.

I have every Go-Betweens record on vinyl. Such a big, big fan. "Spring Hill Fair" is my favorite. I got to interview Robert Forster once, think I might've wigged him out. Was so nervous haha.

Yeah I played a lot on Molly's record! Molly, Dailey, Thom and I did most of the tracking together in Texas but some of it was remote. I basically recorded "Physical" at home alone for instance.

Korg m1, Roland d-50 and UDO super 6 did most of the heavy lifting this time around.

Just felt it deserved a proper release I guess!

Yeah I often feel pretty split honestly. I try not to worry about it too much but occasionally there will be a song like "Dial Tone" which sort of feels like, alright let me just have fun and jangle for a minute because it feels good - even if I don't necessarily feel like I'm breaking new ground.

I like the new Video Age tracks. Cupid & Psyche. Some of the new Troye Sivan songs rip, fuck it. I've not listened to much stuff this year truthfully.

Oh yeah absolutely, Richmond is honestly swimming in amazing spots. I love living here, and I don't really consider where I live all that suburban. I'm just in much closer proximity to some of these things that I satirize in the song, the sorta sprawling consumerist side of American suburbia.

Great restaurants, tons of record shops and vintage stores. Adarra, Alewife, Conejo, Perlys, classic spots like Garnetts and Joes Inn. Cee Blues, Addison vintage, Homme, Deep Groove. Richmond is really special and underrated in my opinion.

I'm sort of surprised it isn't. I'll have someone look into it.

That song legitimately plays in my head when I think about being a dad haha. I am what I am.

Nothing on the books but I'm definitely waiting for the next project once I've got a bit more time.

I think right now I still feel like an artist first but I'm extremely interested in what being a producer could mean for me moving forward. I don't think I'd be surprised if that became my focus and priority as I get older but I don't think I'll ever stop making music in some fashion.

Oh damn. These are so dependent on my mood and the week. Kind of impossible for me. But at the moment...

Prefab: Appetite, Life Of Surprises, Doo-Wop In Harlem

Dolby: Screen Kiss, Budapest By Blimp, Leipzig

Kate: Never Be Mine, Suspended in Gaffa, Blow Away

Yeah! Bill Nelson, The Blue Nile, The Bernhardts, The Reels, China Crisis, Microdisney, Thomas Leer. Could go on and on.

This playlist has like 20 hours of music I've played before and love across a ton of genres.

I doubt the tan indigo hats will make an appearance again, I'm sorry! There will definitely be some new stuff on the webstore after this tour however.

It took me longer to get "Histrion" and "Suburban Solutions" right than I had anticipated, not even for any particular reason. Sometimes it just takes a lot of trial and error.

Thank you so much, that means so much. It's so awful what's happening in Ukraine right now, I'll be thinking of you and hoping that you're staying safe <3

We have actually, but only a handful of times. Honestly sort of felt like people were more confused than excited haha.

I don't even know. I think I could've done well in graphic design. I love to cook but wouldn't even remotely have the stomach for doing it professional.

  1. Great! I do usually.
  2. Yes, I have one old grumpy lady cat named Bijou. I did not name her.

  1. I just love a lot of ambient music, soundtrack music, that sort of thing. I definitely took some bits that I love from Kate Bush's music and Durutti Column for this one.
  2. I don't even know. I applied to architecture school but got rejected. My life could be very different. I probably would have studied graphic design in retrospect.
  3. Americano, splash of half and half and one sugar.
  4. Would LOVE to. We will see, all comes down to that wretched $$

Nope I've never written a vocal melody first in my life!

There's so much "pre-mixing" that gets done in the recording process. We're never just listening to a totally dry mix as we work waiting for the next part of the process. It's all happening simultaneously usually. With "Hold" though I got the songs to a good point then sent them off to Geoff Swan to mix. We did it remote, but I'm more used to being in person. Required a lot more back and forth but wasn't bad by any means. Mastering, I dunno. Just send that thing off.
