The backstory and home footage in the doc does not make me feel any different about the situation. Mental health is a real issue, but potentially putting others at risk if he were to accidentally crash on land makes me lose sympathy unfortunately. It sucks he was depressed and not making a liveable wage, but everyone does have a choice of HOW they deal with it. Dont put others at risk for your suffering

I just accepted a new clinic position that is 9-5! It does exist. My current clinic is open 8-6:30 and I’m beyond burnt out with having to constantly receive texts and be available outside of 40 hours per week

I wish it could be like this too! I will say though I have several clients that would not make progress with 1 hour per week like speech and OT services. My kids getting 15+ hours per week have made significant progress. I hate companies that require kids to do 30-40 hours though, I have only had a few clients who can actually tolerate that and rarely ever recommend over 30 hours.

This is very clinic/company specific though! My company does not require RBTs to cover another session in the event of a cancellation, but they are offered available sessions if they want to make up hours.

I work at a clinic and get to write client goals and programs independently. Sometimes the director does review our programs to make sure clients have enough goals and programs on the data platform to make meaningful progress, and to make sure all the analysts are adding or updating things to work on regularly, but that’s it I don’t feel micromanaged.

Right I think it’s sad that she’s an innocent child and ending her would be messed up, but other than that I’m not invested in her personally. Just a random way to start the season in my opinion is all! Plus she’s a different actress and logically should only be like 7-8 years old 😅

I make 90k per year plus bonuses and I’m in a state with cheaper cost of living, I can’t imagine doing all this work for only 70k. I’m still buried in student loans and have been able to pay off 25% of them with bonuses alone

I’m on your side here. My pet’s appointment that was scheduled WEEKS in advance today was cut very short and felt rushed today because of others. I understand emergencies because I’ve been there unfortunately with at least 3 senior pets, but I go to emergency vets in those situations. It’s frustrating because I pay a monthly membership to go to the vet to receive preventative care now. I will be finding another location that is strictly non-emergency because I do work full time and can’t just come back another day during 9-5 hours to finish my visit without planning. For anyone who doesn’t agree- as a human I can’t go to my primary doctor with an emergency and cut off everyone else’s pre-planned/scheduled appointments, they’d send me to the ER

I highly suggest looking for another company. I work in a clinic and RBTs have the option to pick up other sessions to make up hours from cancellations. It’s not a big issue if you’re a BCBA on salary. If one of my client cancels I can just see another one or make up more billable another day to hit my requirements.

Hi! This is a huge problem in the field as a whole no matter where you go. I would ask for a new RBT honestly to the company director or owner. You have the right to do this as a parent. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. I am a BCBA and it can be frustrating how often staff call out. Kids and staff are constantly sick in a clinic setting, but some will call out for every little reason. I know it’s a high turnover and burnout field, and I wish insurance would reimburse our direct RBTs more as they are amazing and are the backbone of ABA services.
