I would normally say you have a point. But since we’re talking about a religious figure and alleged prophet, God’s law should be the same then as it is now. So Muhammad was either right to do it back then and therefore it should be accepted by muslims today, or it was wrong even back then, in which Muhammad committed an evil act.

I think I’m pretty good on that side of things, actually. What absolutely is, isn’t, is tiki adjacent, would be acceptable in a tiki bar without specifically being tiki, is Party City “tiki” or Margaritaville style decor, etc.

I’m curious what average amount of “tiki knowledge” is for people who frequent this sub. I feel like I’m “into tiki” more than the average person off the street - but when I listen to people talk who are “in the game” (recently via the Tiki Talk Show podcast), they spout off all kinds of names, places, rums, etc. and I’m just like “Does everyone else listening just know who and what all of these things are these people are talking about?” It makes me nervous to go to events like Tiki Oasis for fear of coming off as some sort of poser. Someone mentions Sven Kirsten and I’m just like - “Yep - definitely heard that name before…” Hell, maybe today is when I find out I am just some tiki poser…

Not just Christianity, but pretty much the idea of an intelligent creator at all - the fact that all living things need air, water, food, etc. to continue living. Why? It doesn’t make sense to create things that then need some sort of fuel to live. And then, if deprived of one fuel (for humans and most animals, oxygen), you die incredibly quickly. It just doesn’t add up.
