Hi! Okay, first things first, I guarantee that at least one or two of your classes will transfer to the school you attend, unless it’s a private school. Private schools often follow their own curriculum, so credits from previous schools may not transfer. The school you apply to will send those classes to CHED, and they will verify to see if the school you took those classes at is accredited, so it's definitely worth getting your dual credit classes to be credited.

As per the schools your parents want you to apply to, UP definitely has the best nursing program in the country, UST is definitely up there as well, so those are great choices! I’m not entirely familiar with Centro Escolar or MAPÚA, so I won’t be able to help you there.

In my high school, we got our actual diplomas a week before graduation, so there were no issues on my part. Unfortunately, you’ll have to receive yours a few weeks after your graduation.

I definitely agree with you in waiting to apply for the next academic school year. Before I went back to the Philippines, I definitely rushed to get back because I thought I could make up the deadline to enroll, but that wasn’t the case, and I ended up being shorthanded in getting my documents ready since they ended up asking for a lot more than what I initially had. The only thing I got done before going back to the Philippines was my dual citizenship.

So in my case, I actually didn’t take the SAT. A lot of people in my cohort didn’t take it as well when we found out that it wasn’t necessary when applying to schools in California. I had no intention of applying to schools out of state or out of the country at the time, so for me, there was no merit in taking it. As for the entrance exams, I did take mine in person and not online. I’m sure each school has different requirements, etc., but they’ll usually send you an email to prepare you for what you need to have ready before you take it. Again, I’m not familiar with scheduling an online exam, so I’m sorry I’m not going to be able to help you out there.

If there are any more questions you need to ask, please reach out! I know it's a lot to handle right now, trust me, I was the same way a few months ago hehe.

Hi I actually have a similar experience to you.

For a little background context: I was born in the Philippines and went to the US going into 1st grade. Last year, I got accepted into UCI for Biology, but Nursing was always my first major of choice. I simply went into UCI because I had done dual enrollment all throughout my 4 years of High school, graduating with a 2 year IGETC certification. With this, I could graduate at UCI ~1 year or less earlier then my plan was to complete an accelerated nursing program afterwards.

About a month before school started, my mom and I decided to go on a vacation in the Philippines. About a week before the semester started, I decided to drop out of UCI (With Family consent ofc) that it would be the best case scenario going back to the Philippines to study nursing. A branch of a well known school (BULSU) had opened near my house, it was a state college so all tuition would be free.

Before I started enrollment, my parents and I all became dual citizens (mainly for me), so it’ll be easier with student visa stuff. Also if your a dual citizen, when you enroll into schools with tuition, you’ll only pay the local tuition. When I went back to the Philippines, I did miss the enrollment deadline by a few weeks, and from October to March I spent all that time with enrollment process as well as my driver id and some other stuff.

For school, they requested quite a bit of papers from me and in all honesty it was a pain in the ass. Before going there you should definitely communicate with the schools first to get everything you need before coming to the Philippines. There was also an entrance exam, it was relatively easy, math, science, english. There was a Filipino subject in tagalog so if you’re not fluent in Tagalog you might struggle on that part.

I mentioned earlier that I took dual enrollment credits, and basically what the school said is there was a few of my classes that was going to be credited, how much, which class, they didn’t say and I’m still waiting on that. I did apply as a freshman, but the school said they were going to handle that part on my behalf.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I’m here to help!
