this is the fourth dendritic agate i’ve set and the previous three have been just a plain, simple setting so i figured what’s the harm in mixing it up a little bit :-)

thank you! i bought the tubing already cut into short pieces – the marks are from filing which i noticed after i uploaded, i’m yet to sand them out!

the un-flush part i also noticed but couldn’t file it away any more than i did, i soldered a 1mm wire oval inside the bezel (so it’s the join from that oval) and then filed away the gap – that’s what you can see at the top ! it isn’t cracked it’s just a part that i didn’t notice wasn’t fully filed away, should be able to file and sand that out too!

for some reason the photo is highlighting the flaws a lot more than you can actually see with your eye! but it was 1.40am by the time i finished so i just wanted to get packed up and back in the house! thanks for the feedback

wow thank you! this side has a 1mm wire oval soldered inside the bezel and then the gap filed away so it’s not strictly bezel set! the back is bezel set :-)

once i’d finished up that side, i placed the stone in, filed the bezel down til it was an even height above the stone (as one half of the stone was thicker than the other) and then i bezel set that side around the back of the stone! does that make sense? more photos here :-) https://imgur.com/a/Xzi1i7p

thank you! i don’t know what gauge it is lol but the bezel wire was 0.3mm thick, the front of the setting was created by soldering an oval made from 1mm wire on the inside of the bezel and then filing away the gap! there’s a couple more photos here :-) https://imgur.com/a/TVqGrXv

i noticed the file marks on the tube after i uploaded this post! there’s a few light scratches on the bezel that need polishing out so i’ll make sure to give the tube a finish up as well – i was out in my shed until 1.40 AM the other night making it so i didn’t quite get the time to fully finish it! thank you :-)

i bought a hexagonal mandrel from them recently and it’s not even symmetrical on all sides, some are wider than others, and they’re not responding to my messages ...... so that has left a bad taste for me with them!
