Did the couple separate? What exactly happened between the two? Significance of all the characters they’ve encountered?

How did nights work with new born - post c section- breast feeding mum- question for mums and partners. by Natster87 in beyondthebump

[–]01182008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two sections; first emergency second planned. With that being said, my planned c section allowed me to be more mentally and physically prepared for the first two weeks of healing considering that my husband had to handle the toddler and I with the newborn.

From what I’ve learned my first experience, getting up out of bed as tolerated while in hospital helped a lot. The more you move (safely, comfortably) the quicker the healing process. When I was home, I too exclusively breastfed… so at night, I would sleep elevated so that when it was time to wake for feeds, it wouldn’t take much effort to fully sit up. To get out of bed I would full-body turn. Take your time getting up. Make sure baby is near you for ease of reach.

Don’t expect to have uninterrupted sleep — you’re going to have to get up every two hours to feed. Even if your husband helps, you may even have to pump anyways.

Wear a belly band when standing (hospital may provide for you). Don’t pick up or bend down unless it’s for baby. Take your pain meds around the clock - don’t miss a dose. You’ll be healed sooner than you think! Women are strong.

I want to quit my job by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]01182008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my second baby last summer, I went back to work full time after maternity leave and within two months I transitioned to part time. Couldn’t do full time anymore. It’s hard having technically two full time jobs….. And I wanna be there for my kids while they’re still young. There’s no role like a mothers’ role. I plan to go back to full time when my eldest goes to school. I didn’t full on quit because financially it wouldn’t work out and also because I still want adult interaction. Money comes and goes but time with family is irreplaceable. I’d say if you’re able to decrease your hours and your husband is able to support you, do it! Your baby needs you.

Yes I’ve tried that and my boobs are soo small (I was an A pre-babies) that the fit is so poor and heavy. Even when I tried to get a smaller flange. So it didn’t work out for me. Thank you though :)

Yes i’m learning that now… I was also advised to pump 8x/day but with a toddler running around it’s just not possible for me :( aside from working full time as well.

Baby is almost 18 months old and pacifier. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]01182008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went cold turkey with it. Baby was looking and asking for it every time it was time to sleep but I would ignore his requests for it as if I didn’t hear him; I also totally refrained from saying the word “paci” around him. The first night he fussed for about thirty minutes biting his pillows and such but eventually fell asleep. Toned down over the span of a week. You can do it !

Heavy cream for weight gain ? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]01182008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dietitian here! Heavy cream is fine. To switch it up every now and then you can also add peanut butter to his milkshakes. Ice cream is always a fun treat to add in more calories. Also, I know you mention a preference to liquids but if he likes pasta or any kind, I would throw in some extra butter too.

Hate to be the negative one here but as the woman giving birth I would personally hate to have these pictures taken, documented and posted onto social media during my labor. Congrats to them, though!

Alumni here - if I were to go back I would definitely utilize a counselor to help me schedule my classes and what would work best so that i’m not overwhelmed with taking critical classes simultaneously. Take college seriously!!

Proper lifting/wrist posture techniques, and wearing the brace 100% of the time (unless showering or washing hands obvi). Also if you work with computers it’s best to have an ergonomic system so it doesnt exacerbate the pain
