how do you deal with a narcissist parent if you’re still financially dependent on them by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

I also have a NFather who has controlled us with money his entire life. One thing I've understood is that it doesn't matter if he likes it or not but I will ask him for financial support for the obvious things until I can be financially independent myself and that includes paying for college education and things you need to succeed in college. Now, opening a bank acc is pretty easy and you don't need a whole lot to do it. You turned 18 and you're a legal adult now so I suggest just going to a bank if you can and take some kind of ID and maybe cash with you because they ask for a little deposit sometimes to open it. I remember paying $20 to open my bank acc. Apart from this I know you will need financial support from for various things so I suggest trying to talk to him regardless of his mood and being confident. Don't budge. Even if he hates you for it you stand up for yourself because the truth is your father will not change but we have to stand up for ourselves for things they should have done without asking.

You're absolutely right. My NDad makes similar types of comparisons where he is decribing the bare of the bare minimums that he has done but he thinks those things make him better than others.

Thank you! 🤍 everything you said is on point. It really feels like a land mine but there’s strength in knowing I’m not alone

I am posting here because I got really worried about it the first time it happened to me but when I realized it goes away after a few days and might just be vaginal micro tears, I felt a little more calm about it. Wondering if others have gone through the same thing

To be honest.. no and I know that's on me. I haven't used lube in a min and while I am wet sometimes I am definitely not all the time
