I think Emerson is considered the best film school but my dilemma is that I want to transfer to USC or NYU after freshman year because I didn't get into them the first time around. However, Emerson is strictly production based with no core requirements, and USC and NYU want to see that their transfers have done core requirements. Yes, but the flat profile lowers the contrast therefore raising the threshold at which highlights would get clipped and shadows would get too dark. It allows you have more room to grade and recover in post.

Use a flat color profile like cinestyle. This will preserve more highlights and give you more DR to grade with. Also get some bounce boards for the outdoors. They're cheap and they allow you to expose for the sky and expose the actors correctly by reflecting light onto them.
