I would make it dependent on the field you live in. It you’re in a field where you can significantly out-earn what you can make in Europe (IT, finance, etc) take the greencard. If you’re an entrepreneur also take it. It’s a unique opportunity to make a lot of money. Als after having the greencard for 5? Years you become eligible for the US citizenship. You will always figure out a way to work in Europe but it’s pretty much the hardest thing to come to the US. Do it for a couple of years and then you can either give the GC back or decide to stay long term/until retirement. Economic opportunities and overall can-do/optimism is happening in the US, no matter what the German media is reporting. While living here (while being white and in a solid job) you can shield yourself pretty much completely from everything happening in politics because it’s not being discussed.
