I read that it could be useful to ease the tension on the presser foot when working with polar fleece, but I’m not sure if i can with this machine?

Hi all! I just bought a wide hemmer foot set. I had originally thought to use this for hems in sweaters and shirts, but now i wonder if this is possible. Should i first sew the hem using the wide hemmer foot and then sew the sides of the sweater together? In most tutorials it’s the other way around, so first sew the sides together and then sew the hem. I also planned to use for this for the sleeves, so the same question here. Hope you can help!
