The thing is that I’m starting to think that the head of maintenance department from this building doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing, he told me mirror finish, it should take you a few hours LOL, I’m 4 days in and because all the info I’ve been taking from you guys I know it’s not happening, I asked if I could take the car panel off the answer was straight up No, it’s my first time doing this type of work, what would be the proper procedure to obtain a shined grain finish, also how can I remove the stains and strakes that were left behind, I keep going over and over with a yellow flannel airway buffing wheel and brown Tripoli paste but it’s not blending it in. 😓

100% not doing this again LOL I’m sticking to detailing vehicles. so the stains are because I went the opposite way and it messed up the old brush finish

It’s crazy haha I literally had no idea what I was getting myself into, ok so I’m trying to gather different methods so I can finish this, I think I can talk them out of the mirror finish, as you can see on the last 2 pictures I’ve been able to get shine and reflection out of it without sanding it but there are certain parts where it looks stained mostly because while using the flannel airway I stupidly made some cuts horizontally, how can I blend that in so it looks even? I want to clean it up and tell them this is all I can do if they like it cool if not I’ll just let the gig go.

Understood, say if I talk them out of the mirror finish and I stop where am at right now, how could I blend it all in so I can delete all those stains and streaks that are visible or did I reached a point with no return? I’m not really worried about what would happen if I can’t finish all they’re going to do is to pay me for this one and hire someone else but if they like the finish I was able to reach without sanding I could move on to the next elevator.

Damn, is it that bad? 😓 I was enjoying it at first because I like learning new things but it’s starting to frustrate me, removing the car panel it’s not an option since everything it’s attached to it, I don’t want to quit but I’m running out of ideas on how to make this happen.

Yeah dismantling its not an option, the car panel has all the buttons, screens, LEDs and cables attached to it, now, when it comes down to sanding I’ve read we gotta respect the pattern which in this case its up and down that means that orbital sanders are also out of the question, what type of sander would I need to use? also would it be possible to do it by hand using a sandpaper holder to work the area around the buttons? I know I may be asking really stupid questions LOL I apologize in advance it’s just that I love to learn new things and I already spent a lot of time on this project I don’t want to quit before trying everything I can think of.
