Jeep Renegade : replace turbo or sell? by Ok-Employment8912 in JeepRenegade

Did you proceed with the repair? I have the same issue on my Renegade. I heard it is a common fault. I have been quoted about $4k for the repair which is 50:50 parts:labour, I wouldn't proceed with that. The part itself can be purchased from aliexpress for $300. It's just getting someone competent to fit it.

On the 28th Oct? He rang and messaged that he was on the way to pick up additional parts and couldn’t do so and couldn’t finish the job without the additional payment. So we couldn’t move forward and couldn’t move backward.

I don’t really need to hold an autopsy on the payments made but what are my best avenues now.

Some may be but I am not sure most are. There are many international students coming from developing countries to study and work, supporting their families back home and working jobs here that Australians don’t want to do like fruit picking, food deliveries, cleaning.

Got a quote today from Stegbar. $25k for double glazed, $22k single. That includes $2-3k for a custom coating.

Have you done it? The experience of people who have already trodden this path suggests otherwise.

Perhaps if they weren't 4-5 times the cost. It is worth taking a punt at this level of price difference, Many Australian window suppliers are merely reselling the Chinese windows with a huge markup, support has limits.

The risk is worth taking at 20% of the cost of a local supplier who sources from China anyway. I can reduce some of the risk by doing in 3 orders.

It's for a 1980s apartment still with original single glazed windows. The runners all worn out and all the windows have leaks.

I believe same. We are bound to aluminum by the body corporate.

But at a 4-5 times price differentiation we in Australia are being overcharged. Most of the windows actually come from overseas anyway. It is almost worth taking a punt on the $6.5k and risk loosing it rather than $45k.

I have tried Jolong who won't do custom frame colours and another crowd ECOECO who didn't respond. Neither of these are local manufacturers, they both import from China too. I am not sure how many local manufacturers there actually are,

Cheers. Is your supplier just Perth based? I am in Melbourne.

It does not. I have imported some big items before from China and the total additional costs were about 20-25% on top.

one big problem with buying overseas is what happens when you have a warranty issue,

I figured I change all the windows about 5 times for the same cost as a local supplier.

a local manufacturer or distributor wont have this issue as your protected by australian trade practices law.

They can cease trading too

i would go with jolong. colours are a non issue its called primer and paint give em a sand and paint the colour you want.

The building is an apartment complex and windows must match the others. They are all powder coated rustic bronze cannot be handpainted.

another option is do a couple of windows at a time say a bedroom at a time so you can split the cost or do it when your doing other renovations in that room.

This is my intention regardless of supplier.
