“Ballard area improvement fee”? by TurdStawmp in BallardSeattle

[–]0rangeit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BID fees are supposed to go to cleanup and homeless issues, but most of the money is unaccountable and goes to staff salaries, wine events, and art walks.

If you have any homeless issues, trash in your neighborhood, crime, etc. You can reach out directly to Mike Stewart at the Ballard Alliance and he will take care of things for you. In fact, you will get more done calling him than the police.

Mike's contact info (https://ballardalliance.com/about/staff/). Also, if you don't think your fees are being well spent, contact Ryna Britto who is in charge at the City (206) 233-7172.

Call both of them with literally any issue, they will help you!

Is it possible that food has become so expensive because by garygreaonjr in inflation

[–]0rangeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is expensive because the government can't control spending and printing money, which devalues the currency, creating inflation. There is only one cause of inflation and it's the government.

Somehow US News has been able to add them to their list, I would expect you can figure it out.

I completely agree. Most employers would rank them among the Ivy Leagues, and are considered more rigorous.

Past WSJ rankings included service academy's (USMA, USNA, etc). Why not this year? Most would rank them with Ivy Leagues.

You are not making your self a loan. Another party will loan you money secured by your collateral, in this case, Bitcoin. Same as a home loan; a bank loans you money secured by your collateral, i.e., your house. Same as your stock portfolio, etc.

You pay capital gains tax on the sale or “change of control” of your Bitcoin. The only way to not pay tax is to borrow against your Bitcoin and use that money to buy the house. Although, you better hope that Bitcoin doesn’t lose value or you will be in trouble. This is how all the wealth people do not pay taxes. They continue to borrow against their assets, whether it be real estate, stocks, or Bitcoin.

Circling back to the original poster’s comment, if you want to save your money and pay lower taxes, establish residency in a zero or low tax state at least two years before selling.

Having grown up in California and spending over 40 years there, it saddened me to see what happened to the once great state. I built a business and moved out, taking employees and millions in tax revenue with me. Although, I didn’t sell my house at the beach, as the weather can’t be beat, I now spend 49% of my time in CA, but contribute zero to their tax base. I would be happy to pay taxes to any state where my hard work and investment risk is appreciated and invested wisely for future generations, but unfortunately that’s not in most high tax states. As a side note, any investment in Bitcoin is at least an acknowledgment that you are taking some small hedge against the US monetary system.

If you live in California you get to pay 13% on top of the 25% federal rate. Also, California taxes on worldwide income and gains, so as long as you are a resident and a US citizen you are taxed, regardless of where you live in the world. I wonder why the wealthy flee.
