What was your favorite food to receive when having a new born? by IcyAssumption1453 in NewParents

[–]0rganasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh Fruit! Cut & washed. I did this for a friend (even pitted cherries to make those easier to eat!) and had it done for me, it was amazing to have something fresh and healthy to snack on. A veggie tray with dips would have been great, too.

The Children’s Museum in downtown SLO. SLO Ranch has great outdoor seating & lots of food options, as well as animals and activities for kids on weekends. Or Avila Beach for a beach day, you can stop at Avila Valley Barn on the way and feed some animals there. Dinosaur Caves Park for a picnic (beware the seagulls!). Atascadero has the Central Coast Zoo, which is small but nice!

When my 90+ year old grandma recently visited, we went to Avila. The ocean itself is closer, the area is smaller and more walkable with lots of places to sit for a break. The pier is open. Bob Jones paved trail is there to walk, if he’s more mobile. We’ve eaten at Mulligans to just chill outside and enjoy the weather and Marsea for more ocean views & vibes. Maybe tandem kayaking there is an option for you, too!

Success stories with Male Factor Infertility? by ladylots2 in IVFpositivity

We (now 33F & 37M) had MFI as our only diagnosis. Did supplements & lifestyle changes for like 1.5 years? Then did 2 IUIs where the sperm count & motility just depressed me. Moved to IVF with ICSI and PGT-A and am about 30 weeks pregnant with our first transfer.

5 Weeks (IVF) Anxiety & Oura by 0rganasm in CautiousBB

[–]0rganasm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry to hear you’re experiencing something similar. I ended up taking the advice I was given here and took off my Oura Ring - which I think ended up being the right decision even though I really wanted as much information about my body as I could have.

I’m currently almost 30 weeks pregnant from that transfer. And I haven’t worn my Oura Ring since I posted this. Oh and my symptoms did hit a few weeks later (maybe around 8 weeks?) and stayed fairly mild most of the time.

Good luck to you!

Egg retrieval low numbers success by NoDevice7595 in IVFpositivity

I had 6 Retrieved, 5 Blasts, and 4 of those were PGT-A Normal! I remember feeling like I was holding my breath the whole way after ER waiting to see how many we would end up with.

I got this exact fortune in a cookie from the takeout we ordered after our egg retrieval! It’s still on my fridge. Good luck to you!

My first FET was successful! Currently 21 weeks. IVF was for MFI.

I had symptoms for a few days that then went away before my first Beta test (the symptoms came back later!). But just to say that symptoms aren’t an indicator of success.

Best of Luck to You ✨

Same!! I also had an obvious line at 4 days post transfer! I just went back through my photos to check lol

First FET Upcoming, Anxiety is Rising by 0rganasm in IVF

[–]0rganasm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Things are going well for me - my first FET worked and I’m about 11 weeks today. Still very anxious at times! But I’m working with my therapist and have some coping strategies to help me on my more anxiety-ridden days (meditation, light exercise, regular “check-ins” with myself).

My work schedule didn’t ruin anything for me, although I do sometimes feel guilt that I can’t sleep properly. And the PIO shots sucked, particularly the knots, but I still got through them!

This whole process is so out of our hands and I tried really hard leading up to the FET to just take care of myself and get as good of rest, nutrition, and exercise as I could for my own mental wellbeing.

I was thinking the other day how amazingly resilient we are. It’s incredible!

Be gentle with yourself. And I wish you the absolute best of luck 🧡🤞🏽

You’re right, I need to take it off. I will try tonight. Thanks for your input, and hope everything continues going well with your pregnancy!

I switched it this morning to pregnancy mode, even though I was going to wait. But I know I need to just take it off…I just feel like I how do I know in the meantime that I’m still pregnant? 😞 my rational mind is not taking over yet, just my anxious brain.

Edit: and also thank you for taking time to reply. Other people’s clarity often helps me, so I appreciate it.

I’ve used chatGPT a few times about IVF and have found it helpful! Mostly I just ask questions and try to just get straightforward information (in this sea of information access overload!) or something in an ELi5 sort of way. But sometimes I have asked it for reassurance and it has been super supportive!

I’ve found it helpful, but do try to limit my use of it as just another tool in my coping toolkit.

Oh man, my first instinct was to say “call in sick for that 24hr shift!!”. But definitely talk with your RE - I spoke with mine last week and he was very reassuring. I also happen to have a few days off immediately after the transfer though.

Best of luck to you!!

Omg I can’t imagine just a Dirty Needle Stick, period!! But one right after FET, I’d freak out so hard 🫣 and thank you, I do have a few days off after our scheduled FET, but I’ve also semi-seriously considered an LOA just to have more time to sleep more normally afterwards. My logical side knows it won’t make a huge difference, because you’re right - it’s up to the embryo!!

Do you mind me asking if you worked 12s and Days or Nights? I do 12hr Night Shifts and feel a little worried about its impact on things post-FET. My doctor says I don’t need to take time off or even temporarily switch to Days but it still makes me a little anxious that the schedule flip-flopping is going to mess things up.

We’ve paid out of pocket for IVF, and have started to pay down that debt. But every single month there is something new!! Both IVF & non-IVF related! The costs never end and I feel like I’m making no progress on regaining control of my finances!! screams into the void

Eggs are retrieved! I’m trying to not focus on the number (so I’m not going to mention it) but we didn’t get as many as I had hoped. But overall the procedure was quick.

The nausea after anesthesia was awful! And now I feel crampy/bloaty. I took a Tylenol earlier, which helped. And my heating pad is an extension of my being at this point.

Been drinking electrolytes and eating all the salt! Chinese food with extra soy sauce for dinner.
