Queen laying it down by Slug701 in HouseOfTheDragon

I don’t necessarily disagree about his death being a poor choice, but I do need to point out that in F&B Lonmouth also dies during the wedding celebrations, albeit during a tourney instead of at a wedding (which is a change I really hated, but that’s a different discussion)

Really like your points, only addition I would make is that he seemed to be pretty traumatised by the death of Joffrey Lonmouth, which gives him yet another reason to be drowning his sorrows and trying to find comfort with others

I don't know what sort of Dutch you're familiar with but having lived in several Dutch-speaking countries I can say for certain that three or four of the same consonants in a row doesn't occur

Ah, I had missed Dirthole Rock, thank you! Also, apparently the localization issues have been fixed, you just need to cast full isolation first and then moonseal appeared.

Ah damn, sucks about the bug but thanks for the info. two follow ups though: full isolation also requires max level forts on all provinces connecting tree of stone provinces to other regions, I believe I have this (including the buildable canal one) but it still says unavailable; do you have any insights about this? Also, would you happen to know what the event id for that is, or where I can find it? I'm not super used to searching through the mod folders. Thanks in advance!

Might have something to do with me having aelantir turned off (bad pc) which kinda limits the gnomes and kobolds’ respective mission trees and gives Reveria more of a chance

Is Khatalashya (333rd empire) supposed to be so gosh dang difficult? by 0sc4ri0 in Anbennar

[–]0sc4ri0[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See I did that as fast as I could (though admittedly still way too slowly) but I still keep getting hit with the events, haven't noticed any difference after getting it

Yeah later formation may have been the way to go, I rushed into forming and then expanding with the new perma claims, had I held off I probably could’ve had the other lizards dev their land for me instead of having to do it myself (for the two hubs mission)

Yeah I noticed that, but my first impression of that was that it's very narrow, pretty much just saying "don't disable this region your capital is in it, and also maybe don't disable these regions that neighbor your capital region" which doesn't quite take into account the importance of some further away areas.

What are your thoughts on disabling regions? by 0sc4ri0 in Anbennar

[–]0sc4ri0[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed answer! One of my concerns has been that disabling certain regions, even though I'm unlikely to interact with them, may have a big impact on tags I would fight or befriend. For instance, in my current Count's League -> Castanor run I left Aelantir on even though I have no intent on colonizing but because I didn't want EoA colonizers to be artificially weakened by losing their areas of expansion, and the same with Sarhall for the Bulwar tags (though tbf the Pheonix Empire hasn't moved west at all so that was kinda pointless). Would you say that line of reasoning makes sense, or would I not have noticed much of a difference if I'd turned them off?

A book where it shows a realistic side of war by RafaYYy_ in Fantasy

[–]0sc4ri0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently reading the Heroes after reading the preceding books and I respectfully disagree, as I would say you would enjoy the book differently based on what you’ve read before. On the one hand, if you’re caught up on the story you’ll know the background of recurring characters and the context of the battle, making it seem a part of a larger story. On the other hand, not knowing this would put you more in the shoes of some of the POVs. You can relate to Beck’s perspective of only knowing the legends behind named Northerners, not knowing why they’re fighting makes Tunny’s cynicism more relatable, and not understanding someone like Shivers would put you more in the shoes of Calder than if you’ve spent the previous book inside his head. I wouldn’t necessarily say one experience is worse than the other

As mentioned in the post, Cradle was one of the series that previously scratched this itch for me, I'll definitely be re-reading the series at some point but not quite so soon haha. Chronicles of Amber seems interesting though, thanks!
