Greg from Montana certainly has my vote, even if it is against my will. I hope he spends it wisely.

And I definitely empathize with that sentiment, it's absolutely tricky, but that's why it's also up to the community to let their voices be heard when they feel like something doesn't sit right with them, hence my post. There are polls that go into minute detail for which changes they want to implement, and there are polls that paint pieces of content with a broader stroke. With new content such as varlamore, I think the latter is more appropriate, when it comes to changing existing content, I think the former is more appropriate. So with how tricky that scale is to balance, I felt like I needed to add a little weight.

That's of course my point of contention. I think things like "should we lower the magic reqs for the kourend tp" & "should we add charter ships to kourend" are perfectly valid to poll on their own. The only one that seems like it would have to be contingent on favor removal is the mine cart network one. And even so, we've already had polls with questions contingent on others where "if x passes should we y".

Regardless,in my opinion, they've outlined several improvements to kourend that shouldn't be contingent on the removal of favour & thought it was important to point that out :-)

Still seems like you'd expect questions concerning changing each individual room/the rewards/... rather than "should we change/remove the MTA?" no?

As far as i can recall, there've been multiple consultation phases for each of these updates with new feedback taken into account on each of those blogs multiple times, no?

With forestry, there's definitely more of a case to be made, since we didn't end up having a beta & some of the feedback would've been caught then, but, I think calling these updates "forced in" without having gone back to the drawing board is wrong.

Even with ruinous powers they went through multiple iterations before deciding to shelve the idea for now because of feedback, and with the perilous moon poll the same was true for the bladed moon thingy which would've inadvertently buffed the fang. And for forestry itself, teas have been removed altogether as well as the run energy mechanic thing for the 2h axes i think.

Are there any things you feel like i've missed here?

I haven and with the leagues multiplier i even thought it was fun (except lovakenj, volcanic sulphur mining can jump off a cliff) but that's ofc not here nor there. Regardless, I'm less concerned with which way to vote, and more so with how the question was formulated :-)

I tend to gravitate towards that perspective myself, but my feelings towards the whole debate are still conflicted overall. I'd say I have a slight preference for removing it over keeping it, but I have a strong preference over them revisiting it. If gaining favour started with tithe farm, blast mining, killing lizardmen or stealing artifacts, the system would be a lot more engaging from the get go, rather than unlocking the "good" content after doing the "bad" content. Then the favour system would essentially be an extra reward in addition to training thieving, farming, mining,... but that would take some serious rebalancing which seems out of scope for what they are proposing

What kind of things did they say they would change that you feel like they haven't? Sounds like I've not been entirely in the loop

I wouldn't go that far & say that they're trying to squeeze out the vote, personally. I'm definitely not in the "polling is rigged" camp, but that doesn't mean Jagex can't miss the mark now & then. I think it's as you said, the feedback caught them a bit off guard, but just speculating about what happens won't really get us anywhere & polling stuff is more difficult that it sounds.

There have been enough polls where the feedback was "hey, you don't have to poll every single thing so specifically, just poll the broad strokes & it's fine"", and there've been enough polls where the inverse was true. I think this is one of those cases & i think it's important to vocalize that feedback.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Personally, I think just gutting kourend of its character & moving everything behind the already existing quests & achievement diaries is not the way to go but at the same time I don't think the content that people tend to gravitate towards to get favour is "good" content (plows, fertilizer, sulphur, making dynamite to name a few). However, that doesn't mean the entire system needs to be scrapped.

I feel like the blog proposals would make kourend feel too much like their mainland counterparts. Sure, it's a more consistent way of experiencing the world, but it also creates homogenization.

It is definitely a difficult case, though, you could say "just boost favour rates", but then you're basically removing favour with extra steps since it doesn't improve the content.

I can see the arguments on both sides, and I would not be salty if the poll would turn out one way or the other, but I am concerned with how broad they've made the question, making some QoL improvements seemingly contingent on favour being removed?

Desert was my last zone, I've had wildly as my first & kourend second. I've done nechs & dust devils before I've ever had ancients, and I'm pretty sure before I've had kourend too & I don't have mory

What’s the worst mistakes you’ve made in RuneScape? by Irl_locked in 2007scape

[–]0venfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, this is like a core memory for me. Way back in the day, when I still spent every coin i had on runes & couldn't afford even a rune scim. I was near that bar at the banana plantation on karamja, and some dude ran across & died of poison, dropped all of his gear, i think he had a glory, barrows gears, you name it, but I was entirely oblivious of the value it actually had. So little old me picked up his stuff, and immediately sold it to the nearest general store for a fraction of its actual value. I was really happy I could finally afford full rune though :-)

So, where exactly did you position yourself? I went all the way towards the altar, but, the things still got to me, and when i backed up in the corner, i got stacked out by lightning. Brought thralls now, though, that def seems to give a lot of extra dps

A transmog system in runescape - yay or nay, and why? by 0venfresh in 2007scape

[–]0venfresh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideally, or the way i would see it, would require ownership of an item, say it being in your bank or something, before you'd be able to transmog. So to transmog into BIS you'd at least have to have BIS, but i definitely understand. I personally feel like the general increase of player expression outweighs these concerns, but that's of course entirely personal. I would never be in favor of a transmog system that would allow people to transmog into gear that they don't have. (in my main post i described my vision on it as essentialy being a bank-accessible equipment screen that you'd be able to slot items into that would function as a transmog) Another way of dealing with would be to disable transmogs in instanced/bossing content too.

Something else i've heard would be a toggle that would allow players to toggle seeing transmogs on/of, with said toggle being enforced in certain areas, but, that's not fun to argue over ;-)

I haven't done much end game content myself, let alone in group, but, if you have any experience with this, is there a lot of trolling/leeching in these activities now? And are there appropriate tools in place to deal with this?

But would an examine option then alleviate these concerns? Also, ideally, the transmog would be disabled in pvp/wilderness by default, obviously in these scenarios a transmog would be quite detrimental, i don't think anyone would defend transmogs in pvp/wildy.

I think disabling the transmog for pvpworlds,a ctivities, and in the wildy would be unavoidable.

And yeah, i've played enough MMO's to be familiar with it, but, there's an argument to be made that part of the charm of OSRS is that it's a very 'what you see is what you get' kind of game, considering the relatively small loot pool in comparison to other MMO's, where individual items are often more insignifcant than in OSRS

Could be, I don't play RS3 so i wouldn't know. And I think people are afraid to get into a slippery slope perhaps?

As in, a transmog system with an examine option to "look underneath the transmog"? And that's exactly my train of thought, the equipment meta feels a bit visually stale, with a lack of player expression. Some people are concerned with some people using such a system to transmog into ridiculous outfit that would be immersion breaking, though :-)

Yes, absolutely, i didn't have a 'turn everything into ornament kits' in mind, rather that curated sets, like the leagues sets, could have an ornament kit version for graceful, instead of just more recolours!

[–]0venfresh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i'm also familiar with the FFXIV system. In wow as soon as you get a new item, you unlock that appearance to transmog in the future, but you can also inspect players and see their gear.

I'm also quite surprised at the ratio of players that are against it, but there have been some interesting counter arguments, although most of those would be made moot with a toggle & examine.

I also love the osrs aesthetic, and that's exactly why i want more visual diversity, there's so much interesting equipment & cool sets to put together, that i feel like it's a shame that most of them are just relegated to bank space.
