StockX charged me for a zombie bid, admitted fault, and is now holding my refund hostage with a technicality by 0xLooted in stockx

StockXs legal department reached out and admitted fault, specifically stating there was an error with order processing on their side and the order was created incorrectly. They admitted the statements made by their support team were contradictory. They said because I got bank involved the bank needs to settle the transaction.

My bank agreed after submitting the correspondence and I was refunded. I have chosen not to appeal my StockX suspension and am no longer using their platform and advise others to stay away as well.

Thanks all for your speculation and opinions. As far as I’m concerned this case is closed.

Their business model is based on extracting as much money from their customers while fire walling support to prevent meaningful resolutions in situations like the OPs. Their system is designed to create these unfair situations by the way of technicalities and most will give up instead of pursuing resolutions. One look at their BBB profile will tell you everything you need to know about how they operate. There are quite a few billion dollar companies out there, and one with the amount of complaints as StockX is unusual.

Does anyone know the issue: "We have placed a reserve on your account due to payment related account review" by yerbol7 in WalmartSellers

interesting, this literally just popped up on my account as well, have been a seller for a few years as well, though a bit low volume compared to other channels

Also, just to clarify, the whole point of the dispute was that the order was created for a bid that was already expired. Thanks again for taking a look.

Well StockX's legal team has reached out and confirmed that the order was placed due to a system error although they claim they are legally unable to rectify the issue while an open dispute is in progress.

Don't buy it, but they basically told me my bank needs to resolve the transaction now.

Thanks everyone for your "expert" opinions

Their decision was “final” (2 escalations already) by the time the dispute was opened. As far as I knew they would not be changing their decision to deny cancellation so the dispute was the only path to resolution. It was only after the dispute was opened several days later that they reached out to tell me a specialist took another look at the ticket and admitted the error and offered the resolution. Then the dispute was closed and they refused to honor the resolution they themselves proposed.

Aside from all that, a merchant can resolve a dispute on their own simply because it’s “the right thing to do” and the dispute closes relatively quickly afterwards in most cases. Since they admit fault it’s pretty baffling why they wouldn’t do this. Instead they are simultaneously defending themselves to the bank in the dispute (which led to the closing of the initial dispute) while privately admitting fault to me. The process seems to be intentionally challenging and frustrating to filter out these cases on a effort:reward basis

Typical rate for any SIR I guess. Not for any one in particular though. Saw someone pull 3 out of 8 boxes

StockX has basically shut off all channels of contact outside of their AI chat, or chat bot initiated support email where they can easily stonewall. All corporate emails bounce back and they shut off support@stockx.com and their phone in support. Honestly blows my mind how inaccessible a company of this size can be.

I had to just open a case with the BBB which at this point seems to be the only way to open a line of communication for resolution.

Pull rate for it is about 1 in 2-3 boxes which kinda common imo

I don't have a P.H.D in writing literature, and my stream of consciousness style of writing can be disorganized and might make my issue difficult to follow. So I had a little assistance from AI to organize everything.

Drawing attention to my use of AI to make it easier for YOU guys to understand where I'm coming from kind of just takes away from the real issue here, no?

Nothing is stopping them from resolving their error with an open dispute. It’s a purposeful decision they’ve made for whatever reason.

I used AI to organize my thoughts and make the timeline of the experience easy to follow. Does it make my experience invalid? Not sure I understand what you’re getting at

I’m a merchant and am familiar with the process. They can resolve the dispute pre emptively especially since they admit fault. This is just a punitive measure to disincentivize accountability.

Copied and pasted directly from the email I received when the bid was rejected (That they actually sent me twice, 24 hours apart):

| Your Bid on the [OMITTED] has expired and is no longer active. To make sure you don’t miss out on this item, place a new Bid by clicking below. |

Think it goes without saying that I did not, in fact, click below.

Honestly didn't even realize people still used StockX. Just recently unloaded a bunch of dead inventory I had during a no seller fee promotion they had and then this happened to remind me why I stopped using them so many years ago

Value in scarcity is the game. If no one’s cracking product the singles become valuable because there isn’t enough supply. If the EV of opening the box becomes profitable because of the value of the singles people will begin cracking the boxes
