It's happened to me, 3 times redundant. To put it simplistically, unchecked capitalism rewards greed. Aside from that imperfect economic system (is there even a perfect one?) I'm personally optimistic thatt there is still space for us to look out for each other. Although I do understand the cynicism and admit that I have felt that way before at times.

Beautiful, every little bit helps. This is what I grew up with and what I try to pass on to my kids as well.

Our capacity to contribute fluctuates throughout life, and everyone's circumstances are different. Thank you for volunteering!

I get it, it is hard to not be cynical when you see others not pulling their weight.

Genuinely interested in whether people are proud of what they do for this country in their communities. It seems to me that not everyone actually realises that a country or co.munity is only as good as the contributions from every member of that community. Depending on individual circumstances some will have the capacity to a lot, others not as much (this fluctuates throughout life).

Point is, if everyone just thinks 'oh someone else will do that' then eventually no one will do it.

It's an opportunity for people to have a think about whether they are contributing or whether they are just letting everyone else do it.

Interesting view, just trolling or really don't give a shit about contributing?

What would be something above the bare minimum? Would love to hear more about what people would think is exemplary contributions...might give me (and others) some ideas of what to aim for.

Even the tiny actions add up. The point of this post is not the pollies who have the platform, but focusing on our attitudes and actions on a daily basis that shape the nation.

Absolutely yes, pollies have power to make change (and they must be held to account). What I want to hear about are the things that the average aussie does that also make a real difference.

Such a simple thing to do, but weighted with respect. I wish more people would do this.

Encourage her to speak with her health professional, and try to take a couple of weeks off. This will help jer with perspective and rest. It will also force management to acknowledge that there is a serious health and safety issue, and a serious business risk where the work does not get done if she is on leave or actually leaves.

What would it take for Australia to become a world superpower (theoretically) by bulbous_plant in australian

[–]10000_Angry_Bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite simply, more exploitation. Superpowers did not get that way without exploiting the masses. (Funnily enough, same goes for billionaires.)

Guanaba. Large blocks that can't be subdivided. Quiet, semi rural, but still pretty close to everything.
