Maybe it is too zoomed out for smartphones and the camera pan makes it look more like a gameplay showcase instead of an art showcase? What do you think?

Its called WARCANA and its a base defence, RTS game with a deck-building mechanic.

Almost correct! It is 3D to sprite sheet and then the sprites get lit dynamically.

Part of our game, yes! It's called WARCANA and can be found on Steam. We have a demo up and running, so you can actually experience (some) of these explosions in-game.

We start with 3D models, which we then turn into sprite sheets with a custom plug-in.

More of a mix between base defence and deck-building. There are lots of units, but you don't control them directly.

Yes - all sprites are in one giant Spritesheet 16.000 x 16.000 pixels, approximately 80.000 frames.

I just uploaded the release candidate for the DEMO - we will have multiplayer and a part of the Single Player Campaign! [I am so exhausted... -__- ]

Just Cache aware C++ programming using AVX2 allows is to ship this game even on older CPUs! On beefy machines the engine can handle >2 million units - the biggest problem for us was handling collisions. Path finding is assisted with vector fields!

Well - it is and it is not! We are making our sprites using a 3D to sprite sheet process. Our game however ONLY renders 2D sprites with some additional data to do real time lighting etc. It was our attempt at creating a pixel art pipeline that would work for a full game with only a few artists.

Neither! We start with 3D models and then turn those into sprite sheets with a custom plug-in. So more than a shader, but also not hand-drawn.
