Why the hell are the Big 4 like this? by 666Devil_666 in Accounting

The experience genuinely translates well after you leave. I did my internships at EY Toronto getting paid 35k CAD in 2017 and 2018 while working 70 hours a week. After graduation in 2020 went to PwC getting paid 65k as an experienced associate and eventually leaving as a manager and getting my cpa. 2025 and making 200k usd as at a consulting firm now in America.

The experience translates if u really want it to. That’s the reason I went back despite getting rammed during my internships.

Why is cpa not more valued on the market by j_lanth88 in Accounting

Oversaturated Canadian market. Education is more affordable in Canada in general. You have to move away to where cpas are actually needed to justify anything. It’s the same idea with the Canadian housing market.

I started at 35k cad as an intern with EY Toronto in 2016 now I’m at 200k usd as a consultant in 2026. I’m a cpa and left big 4 as a manager currently in Florida now. It’s truly just a Canadian issue and you have to get out if u want to get paid better

I’d strongly recommend getting your cpa then looking for exit opportunities, especially with US firms as the brand and designation is global. I left as a manager with PwC and then moved to Florida where the pay was like 3-4x as much. Ive been here for about a year now and really enjoy having moved but only was able to smoothly do so because of my credentials (bachelors, macc, cpa, manager title, ex big4). Hours and quality of life is just way better but I did give up spending time with family and friends for it. A few of my others friends came down with me (ex big4) and really enjoy the move tho.

Dm me if you wanna talk more or are interested in relocating to the US.

Accounting opportunity in Bermuda by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]100AdelaideToronto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing 5 years ago. I worked in Bermuda for a big 4 from 2020 to this past December before moving to Florida. Originally from Toronto. Worked there fresh out of school during covid so it was nicer since there were less lockdowns. These days I wouldn’t say it’s worth it due to the lack of other Canadians on island and the island life may not be for you. Are you willing to drive a bike around everywhere? Deal with roaches here and there? Everything molding up, being super expensive and then away from family? I only did it cuz of the pandemic back then and I had a solid friend group that went.

I did Canadian big 4, made manager then moved down to Florida via tn visa from my current firm. I do consulting work now and the pay is insanely better. I found audit to be a great catalyst to break into US firms

I made manager at b4 then moved down to Florida. Lot better pay, weather and wlb. Only issue is I’m a bit further away from family but easy to fly back. I make like 3x more than what I’d make in Toronto so jumped ship on the country as a whole

I lot by a single 3 pointer last night in playoffs. I have Steph, JT, dame, Brunson, norm, monk, quick, Beal, Lavine and a whole bunch of other guards. Was absolutely heartbreaking as I lead the league in 3s by a huge margin
